CHAPTER FOUR : I KILLED TEMI

"Why did you have to say that?" Mide shot at Gina.

The brown-eyed girl only rolled her eyes, She either did not realize the gravity of the situation or was just being plain cruel! Mide had informed her of Temi's death, He had warned her not to create a scene and Gina still went ahead to insult his sister, The audacity!

"You know she was trying to irritate me! why are you supporting her? I am your fiance!" Gina yelled.

"And she is my sister! You are not allowed to treat her that way, ever!" He shot back. His voice was at a high octave.

"And she is allowed to treat me like that? huh? I come back from London and this is how you are going to treat me?" she yelled exasperated as she threw her hands up in the air, getting all riled up.

"Besides, since when did you care about our bickering?" she demanded with a snort.

"Since I started to see this side of you" Mide responded in a cold voice.

"I won't allow you to rest me like this, not for that cheap—"

"This is the last time I will say it! stop insulting my sister! Stay within your limits!" Mide roared at her causing her to shrink back. Tears filled Gina's Eyes and Silence overcame them both, Gina's sniffles could be heard clearly. Mide sighed.

What did he just do?

"Gina—" He began but she cut him off by raising her hand, while the other rested on her lips, trying to reduce her sobs. They stayed like that for a while, just long enough for Gina to calm down a bit.

"I'm leaving" she whispered.

"Gina, I—" He tried.

Gina ignored Mode and snatched her suitcase from him.

"It's fine." were the last two words she said, before entering a taxi and leaving.

Mide stood there, confused, frustrated, and overwhelmed, He wanted to go after her, To stop her from leaving, but he needed to go find his sister too.

He chose the latter.

The sound of water hitting the ground filled the whole room, The sound was however drowned by the loud sons from Ire. The beige walls of the room listened quietly to the loud sobs from the girl. Ire needed to let it all out, Everything. It was her fault, it was her fault her friend was dead. If only...

If only

Ire turned the shower off and wrapped herself in a towel. Tears poured down her cheeks as she stared at the mirror, She suddenly punched it, the glass shattered, just like the pieces of herself that had been lost for the past few years. Whatever made her happy, Anyone she let close, They either left or died. and she didn't want that for her brother, she didn't want Temi to die, she didn't, she didn't mean to. it just...it just happened

"Are you sure it's going to be okay?" Temi said as she pulled on a blacktop.

"It'll be fine" Ire reassured, all you need to do is to collect it for me, it's a small package okay?" Ire said trying to calm Temi's nerves.

"And what's in the package? why can't you go yourself?" Temi asked.

"It's just a gift, and I told the person I wasn't in town, c'mon Temi... help me out!" Ire whined.

"Fine. that place just gives me the chills" Temi confessed. Ire just rolled her eyes.

"They weren't supposed to kill her, The order was not to kill her!" Ire whispered to herself.

"It's all my fault," she whispered again as use pulled out her phone, sailing a number. After two rings the person picked up.

"You idiots! why did you kill her?" Ire roared with so much emotion in her voice.

"Kill her? Ma'am The girl never arrived."

"w-what?"

Mide had just pulled into his driveway when the call came in.

He frowned. He wasn't expecting any call. Nevertheless, he picked up the call.

The caller was loud, clear, and Audible. So was the message.

"I killed Temi."

"What?" Mide immediately looked behind him, his eyes darted around before they landed back at the front door of his grey mansion.

The Detective pulled out his pistol as he carefully got out of the car;

"Who are you?" He asked as he looked around him, his left hand immediately dialed the emergency number that would connect him to their hacker, Maybe He would be able to trace the call if he stayed on longer. All of Mide's hopes were cut short though when the caller ended the call almost immediately.

"Dang it" He cursed under his breath.

After glancing around for the last time, Mide retreated into his house, but before he could even take two steps in, another call came in. Mide groaned.

"What do you want?" He answered sharply assuming it was the person that had called him before.

"Excuse me, Um, am I speaking to Mide Royal?" The timid woman spoke.

"Yes," Mide sighed. "May I know who is speaking?" He asked.

"I'm a nurse from the penitentiary, Um, a patient here wants to see you"

"A patient?" Mide asked confused, why would any prisoner want to—

oh...

"Her name is Hannah Adeyemi, She claims she has something to tell you" the nurse continued.

"What do you mean? what did she say?" He asked.

"She said I should tell you, That..."

"That what?" Mide asked impatiently. Today and been a long day for him

"That she remembers everything" Mide froze for a second Before bolting back to his car.

"Hannah" Mide breathed. The girl was currently sitting up on her hospital bed. She was wearing a small smile but More could not help but notice she looked exhausted and had a few tried tear tracks on her face.

He could not describe how he felt at the moment, he was finally going to get to the bottom of this case, once and for all.

He was confused though, This whole case felt like one big conspiracy and he had no clue who he was supposed to believe. On one hand, he had his sister's strange behavior, That call that made no sense to him and then Hannah. Hannah was like the missing piece of the puzzle that would piece everything together. Whatever this girl sitting in front of him had to say, would be enough to find the killer, he hoped so.

"I wanted to tell you, That I remembered everything" Mide nodded urging her to continue.

"You are safe, nothing will happen, tell me everything you know," Mide said, The 27-year-old had expected everything and anything but not what came out of the girl's lips, her response would turn the whole case, upside down.

"It was me," She whispered.

"What?" Now, Mide could not hear her at all.

Hannah swallowed and spoke;

"I killed Temi"
