"I need nothing from you," she said through clenched teeth, and pushed him out of the way. 

Ariana Mann, a part Vampire, born into a powerful Vampire-Otsukii family, struggles with her power and bloodlust, a side effect of having an alternate personality. As a means to subdue her powers so as not to cause harm to anyone, she willingly lets herself be bullied. Well, not until her Knight in shining armor comes along; or so, she thought. 

Brandon Daniels has never in his life met someone as spineless and weak as Ariana. Her inability to stand up for herself baffles him, but that isn't the only thing about her that does. He isn't sure what draws him to her: her stupidity, timidity or the unknown power she thinks she hides so well. 

She seems hopeless, but giving up on her is out of the question until he finds out why he is so drawn to her. With anger and despair, a dark flame is born within her that only he can tame, but can he save someone who doesn't want to be saved?

Dylan Mann was stunned. "Ariana, why would you think that?" he asked her, not being able to comprehend how such a thought came to her. 


"I've been thinking about it. It makes no sense. You guys act as if you would be better off without me. No parent should behave like that. So tell me now, am I adopted? I'll understand if you just tell me the truth," she said. 


Her father was still stunned to the bone. 'Have we treated her that badly?' he asked himself. He shook his head vigorously. "Ariana, you aren't adopted," he said to her. 


He scooted closer to her and put an arm around her. "Hey, I'm sorry that we haven't been the best parents to you, but believe me, you aren't adopted," he tried to assure her. "We love you, kiddo, even if your mom doesn't like to show it." She sobbed into his shoulder. He hugged her close to him.
