Chapter Four

The alarm woke me up and I lazily turned it off and stretched.

After changing my clothes I spot Snowell using her wheel, trying to get to the ball that is attached by a sting. I chuckle at her before leaving my room to go downstairs with my backpack.

My step mother was sitting at the table eating her own breakfast. Another plate was place in a chair to the right of her. As I get closer I see eggs and buttered toast on top of the plate still steaming.

"Good morning; I heard from your father that this is one of the things you like to eat," she spoke softly, motioning for me to sit down and enjoy the meal.

I did not want to displease her, so I sat myself down in the chair, placing my backpack on the floor next to my chair. This was the first time she has eaten breakfast with me. She is normally still asleep in her bed.

The smell of the food made my stomach growl a little. I picked up my fork, bringing some scrambled eggs into my mouth.

My eyes widened, tasting the cheese mixed in with the eggs. Though a bit different from how I make them, they were really good.

I put my fork down to try the toast. One bite of it and I soon devour the whole thing.

While eating my second piece of toast I looked I at my step mother who had a smile on her face while eating.

With the time I had here with her over the two months, she from what I know did not like to cook. I seen her maid make dinner for her and father. I even had enough courage to ask the maid if she always cooks for her. She plainly replied yes, and requested that she would cook for me if ordered. Over the weekends I asked her to make me lunch.

When I finished eating and was about to grab my plate to bring to the sink she stopped me.

"Don't worry about the plate, I will get it." In my mind I knew the maid would instead.

"Thank you mother for the meal," I mustered out, trying to be genuine.

"It was nothing, now hurry along. I don't want to keep you."

I nodded and said bye to her before picking my backpack up and leaving the house.

Skipping to the entrance I see Nora without her stretch book, but she was still smiling.

"I did as you told me and went to bed early, even though I didn't finish my work," she said a bit solemnly at the end.

Giving Nora a hug for her accomplishment I began to praise her. "That's great to hear. Reward yourself by sitting with your boyfriend during lunch."

Her eyes lit up when I break the hug, then they cast downward. "What about you?"

"I'll be fine... I have Lorenzo to sit with," I say reassuring her.

She looks a bit doubtful but gives in as we walk inside.

"I didn't have enough time to put on any makeup so I will be right back," Nora says suddenly, heading for the restroom.

I smile watching her run down the halls. Though my anxiety starts up as I near our classroom. He better not be here early again, I thought remembering yesterday.

Before stepping foot into the room, I see him sitting on top of Nora's desk again.

As I start to turn around he speaks, "I'm sorry about yesterday."

Seeing as I stopped and looked towards him a bit he continues, "Usually, girls like that sort of thing."

He seemed to be caught on his tongue to say more as some minutes pass by.

"The party... when is it?" I inquired quietly.

"The fourteenth of this month," he replied quickly.

While I was in thought he spoke, "Does this mean you are coming?" Repling quickly with a no, I turned back around to leave.

As I was walking down the hallway my arm was pulled and he was the one who did it.

"Is there anything I could do to get you to come?" he asked, his eyes pleading with mine.

My brain was still focused on the shock of someone pulling on me. Meanwhile my heart was hammering with anxiety as his hand lowered down to my wrist.

Attempting to clear my head I focused on his question. After a few minutes of silence I recklessly answered his question with a silent but shaky voice. "Only if you stop letting random girls hang on your arms."

He dropped my hand in shock and my heart filled up with more anxiety from thinking that he was going to shout at me.

Instead of hearing him shout, he calmly agreed. This confused me deeply, not calming my emotions at all.

He bent down and picked up my dairy from the floor and handed it to me. "Sorry about that."

I forgot that it had dropped earlier and put it back on top the rest of my stuff.

Nora came into my mind and thought that she would be coming soon. I wanted to go to her, but he might follow me and I did not want her badgering me over him.

Seeing that I was distracted by my thoughts he pulled my attention back to him by asking to go back into the classroom with him. I agreed by silently nodding my head.

I continue walking to my desk, sitting down and opening my dairy.
