An Unexpected Event

A dirty pick-up truck with tires that look to be about 50% larger than average ones screeches down the little suburban road. Bright and loud sirens chase after the vehicle with vigor, and people, presumably officers, roll down the window of the cruiser, and aim their guns straight down the glass window that can be seen at the back of most pick-ups. Suddenly, the one of the cruiser's wheels falls into a deep pothole, throwing the man's aim downward, just as he fires the gun. Not two seconds later, and a loud explosion can be heard from anywhere in the vicinity, and debris shoots off at incredible speed.

A man walking down the street hears this particular explosion, and like any sensible person, wanders to find an explanation for this unusual sound. As he is turning toward where the sound came from, he sees a large metal rod, about the size of a tire iron, heading directly for his eye.

"Hmmm. Mortal. Awaken, and bask in my presence." Uttered a voice one would immediately run from if on Earth. "You must wake up, there is much to explain before you are reborn."

"Reborn? Are you telling me that I died recently?" Asked the man who was impaled.

"Of course, you numbskull! In any case, I must be swift with this, as I am on a very unforgiving time limit, and you will be sent right back into the cycle if you don't understand every word I am about to tell you." The voice said, the words "every word" being very enunciated.

"Here is the short version, since you decided to waste precious time babbling. You have been specifically chosen by me, whom you may call your benefactor, as I am not at liberty to tell you anything about me. You will be reincarnated to the next world on this docket I have here (a classic school clipboard with an exuberant number of papers somehow being contained by a flimsy looking metal clip poofs into The Voice's hand) that being Polynia. You will be given a few effects that will differentiate you among the rest of the residents of Polynia, and regarding that, do you want to partake in an opportunity regarding that? Yes? Good."

The Voice seemed to just be monologuing at this point, as it never even asked for my answer. It vaguely described an anime novel type system of power growth and told me that most of it would be explained extensively when I received the effects he mentioned. I was then what I assumed to be banished from its little pocket world, and heard another voice, this one booming with authority.

"Oh mortal, he who has been blessed by Hro@%^#k, God of Knowledge, your reincarnation or Polynia has been approved by the temple, and you shall immediately be transported to said world. Note that as a result of your patron, your memories of your previous life will remain intact, and we will do our best to ensure that your new body is not immediately placed under duress. Now get the hell out of my house before you make a stain on the futon."

As soon as the new being told me, extremely aggressively to "get the hell out", I saw out of the corner of my eye, a flake of my arm rise up into the air. Shortly after, my whole body had disintegrated, and was flowing across a strange wind toward a wibbling cerulean blue portal. It would seem to me, as if 30 minutes after I was told I had died, I would be alive once more, but with a fair few twists.
