The Training Phase

Joe looked at the deck of cards. He sat there for ten minutes straight, zoning out on how all of this even happened in the first place. His eyes blinked when another message popped up on his screen.

"You will be redirected to the training phase."

Joe sat there, waiting for something to happen.

Nothing happened.

As he got up to leave, his eyes detected some movement behind him.

His eyes quickly diverted towards the sound, and as he turned around, he was taken aback in shock.

A large monster loomed above him, breathing hot air onto his face.

He had no idea what to do.

He frantically searched for messages on his phone, but his effort reaped no benefits.

He knew it. It was all over. He was done for.

A large monster with lion head and a two horns emerging on each side of it, stood there. It bellowed.

Joe ran, not knowing what to do. He had his deck of cards with him.

He took out one card.

It was a playing card with two hearts. He pointed it at the demon.

Two attacks of fire at the monster were directed. But they missed it completely.

"Whoa!" Joe exclaimed as he stppoed running and stayed on his spot.

A message popped up.

"10 points deducted from your account."

"Huh?"

Joe felt a sharp pain in his chest.

Shit. He didn't have enough power to use another card.

"How am I supposed to gain energy to fight? I need power points!"

'You'll be deducted power points for every unsuccessful attack you make. You'll be awarded power points for every successful attack you make.'

Oh, wow. So this is how it works.

He was given 50 points to begin with. He still had some left to make attacks.

He took out another card.

It was a four of spades.

Four water attacks were made.

It missed the monster again.

He ran around the streets, panting.

People looked at him strangely.

He was confused. Could they not see it?

"20 points deducted for missed attacks."

The monster came at him with full speed and hit him. He was sent flying towards the Dustbin at full velocity. He was badly injured and couldn't get up.

"Someone help!" he screamed.

People gave him odd looks.

"Mom! Isn't that guy acting weird?"

"Shhh"

No one could see it except fir himself. He realized he was trapped in a virtual reality simulation. He had to defeat it in order to get out of this world he was stuck in.

He charged at the monster with all his might.

"Hey, lion face! Gimme all you got!"

And it charged its fists right at his face as it marched forward.

Joe's face was badly bruised.

His last vision was of the monster's face as his eyes closed.

Ding!

"You failed the first training phase of level one of the game. We will resume it tomorrow, until then, take care!" The message read.
