Oregon City

Moon donned his clothes, and packed his belongings.

There was not much he had in the first place so he only took two minutes.

His clothes were nothing fancy, just the normal clean and decent clothes a young man should wear if he wanted to make a good first impression towards people. The most luxurious cloth he had was a grey robe, short, which could only cover his upper body and neck from the cold.

He had a pouch where he kept his cash in – a bag of gold coins – in his right waist.

Then there was a sharp dagger strapped onto his upper right leg that he could quickly draw if necessary.

His outfit was ordinary, but for some unknown reason, he greatly believed it made him appear extremely cool just like that of a runaway fugitive that was running away from a notorious organization.

He opened the door and slowly stepped outside of the carriage's stairs, lifting the canopy dangling on top of it.

As soon as he did that, a ray of sunlight came shining down his face, making him close his eyes a little for a few seconds.

"Good morning, sirs." He greeted to the two men who had saw his honesty earlier.

Moon could see the fear and respect they have on him, since they knew he was a dreamer.

Dreamers were very rare existences in society, and highly revered and feared. They could shoot flames from their hands, light up a head and burn anyone, punch through a wall, or soar through the skies, so why wouldn't they receive special treatment?

Back in the day, they used to be treated as cursed individuals, damned creatures of the Heavens, but those times were over.

At the present time, Dreamers ruled the world. From the military, administration, bureaucracy, you name it, a Dreamer was standing on its top echelon.

In the eyes of normal humans, they seemed so much larger than life, standing tall and strong, fearful beings of society.

They were freaks of nature, forces that should not be provoked.

In such society, Moon was highly valued.

When the two guys saw him come out, looking at them with his eyes, they felt their lungs clogged a little, and they immediately became obedient as hunting dogs.

"You already paid us, sir, so we have no problem." The man, supposedly the driver of the carriage he rode on, said.

Moon smiled, and felt embarrassed.

He was a noble, so he was used to this treatment.

He could see the fear in the man's eyes, but also the respect. This was something he had never saw when he was just an ordinary person.

Due to his status, people were fearful of him, afraid they will offend him.

But becoming a Dreamer was different.

They still feared him, but he could respect.

This was what made Moon smile.

Due to the constant threat on humanity such as the existence of monsters, many Dreamers were considered as heroes, and their feats were not unknown to the public.

They upheld justice on society, punishing those who committed big crimes.

Many children who wished to be Dreamers wanted to follow their footsteps, and sometime in the future, become individuals who have names and face which will be respected by the people.

"I am not here for that," Moon said, "I just want to ask something. This city, can you tell me where I could spend the night?"

One of the men then nodded, and looked at the scene.

They were high in a cliff, a spot in the street that acted as a viewing deck, so they could see the entirety of the civilization.

The man looked around for a while, before speaking.

"This city was just a mere village recently. But after the Nightmare Tower appeared four years ago, a Lord was installed. Ever since then, it just got richer and people kept coming in, the markets here boomed, the number of visitors gradually increased. Now we are even here." the man shrugged and laughed.

"And because of all that, the inns' here is frequently full and booked in advance. Unless you get a relative, the only inns available would be the poor ones. If you don't get one of those, you'll be sleeping in the streets except if you have a relative here. But we'll be helping you sir, you see that inn out there, it's a nice place that takes care of your food and laundry for only 2 gold coins a month. You say my name, Brown, and you would get a room."

Moon smiled. This Brown indeed talked a lot just to say that.

Still, he helped him, and this was good for him.

Moon picked two gold coins from his pouch, and gave them to the two guys with a beaming smile.

He was rich, and he could afford giving a tip.

Gold coins was the highest currency amongst normal humans, so they were pretty happy, even bowing 90 degrees at him after he left through the downhill street.

The night in Oregon was known to be cold, and it would only be getting colder as the night deepened, so it was best to get a room that it was still morning.

Judging from what he could see, Oregon City was by no means small. The population must be near tenths of thousands at least, and he was not going to risk looking for a place to sleep when it was rush hours.

After a while, he arrived in a large populated park.

It was beautiful, but at this time, he was looking above.

There were several reasons he came to this City, and he was currently looking at one of them.

Along the clear blue sky, he saw a very wide and tall ancient-looking tower in the distance, scraping the infinite sky.

This building was called the Nightmare Tower.

Nightmare Towers were like dungeons where monsters spawned infinitely. But it was not a normal dungeon, they serve a unique purpose.

It was an exclusive training area for Dreamers, where if they cleared enough floors, they could become stronger, and get items/weapons that came from their Dreams.

"I'll go there after I find the inn, and master my powers,"

As if reminiscing, he stared at it for a moment and smiled, but all of a sudden, a shadow dome and gleaming claws blocked his sight, but he evaded it by a hair.

However, something hard bumped into his back, and a black figure slammed him onto the ground and he groaned in pain.

Quickly standing up, he did not check his injuries or the blood running down his head.

Evading an attack aiming at his head, he immediately stood up with one hand.

He had been attacked too fast and sudden by something unknown for him to react to.

He thought he had evaded them and it was his turn to attack, but before he could land onto the ground, something blunt hit his head and his eyes went blank, as he lost consciousness.

But before he lost it, he knew he was not against normal humans, but Dreamers.

At the same time, he remembered that Oregon, his current location, was actually one of the most dangerous cities in the country.
