Chapter 1: Pilot

(Demonic Chibi demands more Quartz I must satisfy the Gacha overlord.)

May 16th, 622.

I don't know why Anchialus wanted me to write aspects of my life on papyrus. Even now when I'm 22, I don't know what that man thinks. Anyways let me introduce myself, I am Eurystheus son of Anaxander, and a random woman. That random woman is Koré my mother, someone who my father drunkenly had intercourse with. That is why even if I'm older than my brother Eurycratides, he would be considered the next king of Sparta. After my birth, my mother was told to keep silent about it since it would ruin the king's reputation.

From the start of my birth to now I was treated harsher than my brother, during training my punishments would be worse than what he would get. But even then I endured it, Anchialus would help me whenever he could. But when he was found out helping me, he was lashed in front of me by my father. This made me train harder since I didn't want Anchialus to get hurt. I knew father wanted this, he wanted a soldier that would not disobey him. Even if I was his son he didn't care, since I was not born from his consort.

I sneak out of my living quarters at night, I managed to find my mother. Who I slowly bonded with over the years, she was one of the three most important things to me in this life. She taught me about her heritage and religion. I was confused at first since I already knew about our gods, and from there I learned about my true heritage. I was half Greek and half Babylonian, I also learned about her lineage. She was a descendant of a god named Ea, which was weird since from what I heard about him he didn't take a female human as a consort. My mother didn't answer my questions but gave me a necklace that had a weird thing hanging from it.

After that weird interaction with my mother, I would then meet another light in my dark life. Her name was Rhene, she was beautiful but also deadly. She decimates trained soldiers like they were children. I asked her how she got so strong, and she told me something that shocked me. She was a descendant of Heracles. Not many can claim to be a descendant of one of Greece's strongest demigods. But that would explain how she treated the soldiers like child-

"Eurystheus are you alright in there." A voice sounded out from the entrance of my living quarters, making me swipe ruining what I was going to write. I turned to Anchialus curious why he was there.

"I'm alright Anchialus, is there anything you need? You normally don't come here at this time."

"Your father has requested you, something has come up." I was surprised by what Anchialus said, father normally doesn't need me for something. Something doesn't feel right here.

"Do you know what father requests me for, you know that he doesn't call me for small things like my brother," I questioned Anchialus, mainly trying to see what is so important that he has to call his unwanted son.

"I do not know Eurystheus, but something is causing your father to be happy for some reason," Anchialus responded to me, my father was happy about something that has to deal with me. This is a major red flag, normally he hates anything to with me.

"Anchialus can you please leave and wait outside, I need to get ready." Anchialus was quick to leave only stopping for a moment to raise his hand and go to say something but stops and walks out.

"So are you sure you don't know what made father happy all of sudden, especially if it has to do with me?." I probed Anchialus, trying to see what he knows, I was not that blind, I saw him hesitate for a second.

"As I said Eurystheus, I know nothing of which is going on. So please remain silent we are nearing the throne room, so please for Zeus's sake fix your clothes." I quickly fixed up my clothes, annoyed at Anchialus's answer but grateful for him telling me to fix my clothes. Since if one cloth is out of place, my father would punish me.

We got to the entrance, where two guards bowed to me and Anchialus. We passed by them, not paying attention to them. Not because we didn't notice, it is because a debate is currently catching everyone's attention. It was between father and of his council members, by the sounds of it, something is going on to cause that much panic in the council members. We got closer to hear what is going on.

"-ot sending the prince out there, damned be who his mother is. He is a warrior that we need, the Tegea is starting to get unruly, we need all the soldiers we need. So don't send the prince out on what is a death march my king." Wait what is going on, sending who on a death march? Before I could question what was going on father was quick to call us over.

"Come Anchialus and Eurystheus, why are you late to this? I made sure Anchialus would get you here quickly" I was quick to go on a knee, bowing to father to try and get his forgiveness. But before I could say anything his voice sounded out again.

"Get up boy, stop dirtying my floor with your clothes." Father was quick to remind me of my status in his eyes, I quickly got up.

"So Eurystheus do you know why you are here,"

"No father, I do n-"

"Don't call me father boy, call me by my King. You are not worthy to say father" His voice was quick to cut me off, making me twitch slightly from where I'm standing.

"So Eurystheus, how were you and your mother's meetings." A chill went down by my back, how did he know? I made sure to keep quiet. I looked back up but what caught my eye was my brother in the background smiling slightly like he won something.

"I don't know what you are talking about my King, what mother do you speak off." I was quick to dissuade my father into not believing that I had contact with my mother. But before I could say anything else father cut me off again.

"Are you sure about that, Guard's bring her in?" To my shock and also fear, two guards walked in dragging my mother in chains. They soon chucked her in front of me, I was quick to grab her.

"What did you do to her"

"Oh well nothing, well nothing but let some people have fun with her." I was quick to look at her body injures were littered showing bruise marks but also dried white stuff on her body.

"How could you do this, did you not have at least a bit of feeling for her? She is my mother and at least for a moment someone you loved." Even while I said this, father still looked at me with a bored look on his face.

"Well, I did care for her for a bit until I learned she believed in false gods. Something which I found infuriating, And when you were born all I felt from you was the misery and destruction you would bring to my home. So I give you an option, you and mother die and that's it. Or you kill your mother and you get exiled instead. So what do you think." Before I could refute his statement, a hand grasped my face. I looked down and even if she was weak, she still gave me that stare filled with love and devotion. Something only a mother who loved her son can give. Before I could say anything she put a finger over my lips.

"Son, please just listen to him. Kill me so you can be free, I would rather die than you die with me. So please kill me and live." I was shocked, my mother the one I loved with all my heart told me to kill her. Before I could say anything, my father's voice sounded out again.

"Hurry up boy I don't have long, pick quickly or I will pick for you." I just couldn't do it, tears started to fall from my face. it stayed like that until a hand wiped them away. All I could do was stare at my mother as she gave me a nod saying it was alright. I could only cry more, But she made her choice and I made mine.

"I will do it, pass me the xiphos. Let's get this done." Even while saying this that bastard still had that bored look on his face, but it slowly changed into a smile as he told a guard to bring me a xiphos. And after a moment I was handed one.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry," I keep muttering out to her while holding her in one hand while raising the xiphos to her chest. Her hand grasped my face while the other grasped the handle of the xiphos.

"It's alright my son, I'm fine with dying instead of you dying. Because you're my precious boy." All I could do was sob as I pierced through her heart with the xiphos, her hand still on my face all way to the end. I knew she was dead when the hand holding my face dropped, I dropped the blade and hugged her tighter, and cried in grief. But even then at that moment the bastard still smiled.

"Get up boy, you and that filth are dirtying my floor with your disgusting filth, guards dump the body where the feces are. She doesn't deserve a proper burial. And Anchialus take that disappointment of a son to the quarters he has until morning to leave." A hand grasped my shoulders as Anchialus pulled me up dragging me away as all I could do was look over at my should at the dead body of my mother. After that I could only robotically follow Anchialus, it lasted like this until my quarters where Anchialus just left me there.

As I sat there all I could do is stare at my hands, where just moments before I killed my own mother with them. It stains my hand with the blood
