Another attempt

'Silver Moon Essence...'

A magical powder... A material that fades after it's exposed to the darkness of the night... Silver Moon Essence is not a powerful substance... It can merely give some buffs to a mage or cure some illnesses when mixed with other medicine... Its powder state is the form before the essence is completely made by mixing the powder with Mana Infused Water... So it must be weaker... Come to think of it, aren't the namings of the essence a little bit wrong? Why call it powdered when the original form is the powder... Anyway. That's not important. The powder is weak but he is using a great amount of it...

Mana... Something that weakly affects mana in the room of the young master who has a lot of problems with his turbulent mana...

'Wait... Is this another murder attempt?'

Usually, one had to consume the liquid essence if he wanted to gain a buff on their mana, but if that was powdered, you didn't need to consume it. Smelling, touching, or simply being in an environment that was rich with the aroma of this powder was enough to give you buff in your mana.

The young master's mana flow was not normal. Since birth, he had an overflowing amount of mana on his body, so much so that his body couldn't contain it and the mana made his body vulnerable. The problem was that the young master was unable to control his mana at his own will, and when he managed to control a small amount of it, the backlash would be too much for his body to handle.

'And this dude is splashing a substance into Alaric's room which increases mana...'

Alaric will explode if his mana becomes more than this...

'Oho! Look at this! That idiot is talking about how his sister can act as the hair and his sister has sent people to kill him in his absence!'

I clicked my tongue and rolled my eyes. The situation was more than frustrating.

'What should I do about this...'

I can't let the man just die like that without finding out my answers, but will saving him this time guarantee that there will be no further murder attempts? How am I even supposed to save him?

The powder form of Silver Moon Essence is weak against the sun but gets strong when exposed to moonlight. Can I make use of that? I don't think so... The powder will probably get absorbed into the floor and the air until the sun is up, so the sunlight won't affect it at all the next day.

'Hmm...'

While I was contemplating how to get rid of this essence, I saw the figure of the doctor stand moving, and look around a little bit, before changing his course and approaching the bathroom door?

'What? Why is going this way?'

He was still holding the pouch in one hand and the oil lamp in the other. He had finished splashing the powder on the whole room while I was thinking about how to save that stupid young master of mine. The man walked towards me, before he suddenly stopped, moved a little bit to the other side, and opened the other door that was next to the bathroom. He entered the small library of the young master and I could hear him walking around and splashing something on the other side of the wall.

'He wants to cover every inch of the room with that thing...'

Right. It would be too suspicious if the young master noticed that the atmosphere of his bedroom and library didn't feel alike. That meant that the doctor was probably coming to the bathroom after he was done with the library...

'Damn!'

I hurriedly walked to the back of the bathroom, opened the door of the passage I used to enter then threw myself inside it, closing it as soundlessly as possible. Just as I closed the door, I heard footsteps enter the bathroom, move inside for a while, then leave again. I waited for a little bit longer before I left the pathway once again and approached the bathroom door. Dr. Reeve hadn't closed the bathroom door, as if thinking that it was normal for the door to be left open, so I could still watch the room through a small gap.

The doctor checked the room once again before approaching the door of the room. When he carefully opened the room, someone's voice entered my ears.

"Are you done?"

"Yeah."

"Have you made sure not to make any mistakes?"

"I said I'm sure! Stop questioning me and move away!"

"Tsk!"

The doctor was conversing with the man on the other side of the wall, someone whose voice sounded too familiar to me.

'Severin?'

That was the voice of the third special servant of young master Alaric, Severin, someone who regarded himself as my superior but was actually at the same rank as me. He was the one who was conversing with Dr. Reeve.

'Was he standing guard outside the door the whole time?'

That only means that he was working with whoever tried to kill the young master, and that person was for sure, the young lady.

'Hoh! How come I never knew about that?'

In my previous lives, Severin was never found doing anything that could reveal his connection to the young lady, but this time, he had exposed himself... How strange.

Click

The door of the young master's room was closed, and then I heard the sounds of the lock turning, indicating that they had locked the door. I waited inside the bathroom for a while before carefully stepping out of the bathroom.

The first thing I did was to approach the desk and pull out the notebook that Dr. Reeve had copied its contents. As soon as I opened the notebook, I understood why the man didn't take his eyes off of the pages while he was writing them down on another paper.

'What language is this...'

I looked at the words, held them in front of the moonlight, and tried connecting them to each other in my mind and creating shapes and symbols, reading them in reverse and different orders, but none of them showed any meanings to the words. I thought they could be some symbols or secret letters, but it didn't seem to be the case. They were apparently in a language I'd never seen before.

'Should I copy them as well?'

I considered doing that but gave up on that idea soon. I didn't have the time to do that.

While contemplating the matter, my eyes caught on a black mark on the floor.

'Ink?'

It was the ink that had made the floor dirty. It seemed like it had oozed out of a pen as the color and smell of it were different from the ink used in quill pens.

'Hmm...'

After putting down the notebook, I walked around the room just like Dr. Reeve had done, in search of anything strange. That was the actual reason why I came here. I wanted to know if there was anything new, unnatural, and probably magical inside the young master's room.

I wanted to find out clues on how Alaric has lost his memories as soon as possible, so if there was a need to regress in the future, I could regress without any regrets. However, I couldn't find anything out of ordinary.

Heaving a sigh, I walked back to the desk and looked around. There must be not much time left until Alaric comes back. I have to do something before he returns.
