William could feel Lea's pain just from her teary gaze—feelings of disappointment at being treated unfairly.

"I'm sorry that you wasted your precious youth for a good-for-nothing man like me," William whispered. After all, he was indeed at fault from Lea's point of view. Supposedly, if he still loved Lea, he should have rejected the marriage arrangement with Paula from the start. It would be fair for everyone.
