Chapter 6: Since You’re Asking So Much

"Do you know her?" Andy asked. "Umm, Yes. I met her through her mother. She's a very lovely girl. Mysterious too." Yvette said. "Really? What's her sister's name?" "Abigail." "But then what did you mean by she's back?" Andy asked. "Well, they live in New Orleans with their father and only come here to visit their mother. They might go back soon." replied Yvette. "Oh." Andy said. Sensing her son's disheartenedness, she said, "Don't worry. I'm sure she'll stay up to 2 years." "Okay." "But please,... NEVER mention that name to your father. It's for your own good." It's not like I even talk to him thought Andy.

Andre, who was eavesdropping on their conversation hurried quickly to his father's room. Just as he was about to knock, someone asked, "Why the hurry?" Turning around, he saw his mother. "Nothing." "If that's so, go to your room and sleep. Also, drink your milk before bed." she said. "But I need to tell father something imp-" "I'm sure it can wait till tomorrow. To your room now." Yvette said firmly but softly. Reluctantly, Andre went to his room. "That stupid mother of mine,... always defending that worthless brother but she never defends me or hugs me like she does to him. And I don't care. As long as father's by my side, I'll always be better than him." Andre said to himself.

Climbing into his bed, he gulped down the glass of milk placed on the side table. Clapping his hands twice, the lights in the room went out. 30 seconds after he got tucked in, there was a knock on his door. Sitting up, he asked "Who's there?" Almost immediately, Yvette entered the room. "Mother?" "Forget I ever came here, forget our conversation in the hallway and forget my conversation with Andrew." Yvette chanted thrice staring directly into his eyes. "I'll clap thrice, you'll fall asleep and once you wake up you'll forget it all." she said. Immediately, she clapped thrice and Andre fell asleep. "Good night Andre." Yvette said before she left.

The next day, they headed to school. "How about we start the project?" Regina said taking her seat in front of Andrew. Andrew froze for a couple of seconds before saying, "Sure. I'm sorry for how Andre acted yesterday." "No biggie. By the way, thanks for the compliment yesterday." Andrew furrowed his eyebrows, trying to recall what she meant. "Never mind." said Gina placing her tab on the table. Since school was over, they had a lot of time to work on the project.

By the time school was officially over, the project had been completed. "May I have your number?" Andrew asked as they walked into the parking lot. Regina stared at him for a while, a little hesitant to comply. What if it isn't him? she asked herself. "Yes." Regina replied handing her phone over and collecting his phone. "Hey dude!" Ricky exclaimed.

"Argh." Andy mumbled. "I see, she finally stopped playing hard to get." Ricky said. Ignoring him, Regina collected her phone and returned his. "Andrew,..." she said, her voice sounded like the sweetest melody in the world. "...what's your father's name?" she asked, unintentionally destroying the moment of utmost bliss he felt when she called his name.

"Douglas McDonald. Why do you ask?" "Just curious." "Regina!" Rea yelled as she ran towards her. "You,... you study here?" asked Ricky. "Oh, it's you again." Rea said dishearteningly. "Great! Now I get to know your name. Which is..." "None-of-ya" "None-of-ya what?" asked Ricky gladly. What a strange name. Ricky thought. "None of ya business." Rea replied bluntly before catching up to Gina who was heading to the bus.

"No wait! That's not the name I asked you for." Ricky said chasing after her. Andrew watched as Ricky chased after the girl. "This is one for the history books." he whispered. "Andy quick or we're gonna loose them!" Ricky exclaimed dragging Andrew to his car. "Do you know her name?" Ricky asked as they tailed the bus. "No." came the short reply that ended the possible conversation.

They followed the bus to Sweet Meals. Ricky hastily parked the car, then dashed into the restaurant. "I can't believe he locked me in his car." Andrew said shutting the car door. With his hands in his pockets, he strutted to the restaurant. When he entered, he met Ricky standing by the entrance. "Dude what took so long?" "Well unlike you, I don't have to run. There's nothing I'm paying any attention too." Andy said. "Well,... you might want to pay attention to that." said Ricky pointing behind Andrew. Turning around, Andrew saw a guy around his age standing behind Regina, but from where he stood the stranger seemed to be nibbling on her earlobe.

Regina stood on her own, taking the orders at table 3 when she felt a familiar presence behind her. Before she could turn around, the guy leaned in and whispered into her ear. The fake happy expression on her face quickly turned into one of utmost shock for less than 3 seconds. Signaling another waitress, she left with the guy to the kitchen.

Andrew's eyes followed Regina as she led the mysterious guy into the kitchen. He felt a sharp pain in his heart and an unexplainable feeling of anger well up within him. "Who was that guy?" he asked Ricky. "I don't know. Maybe her boyfriend." "She doesn't have a boyfriend." Andrew said nearly interrupting him, annoyance evident in his words. "And how would you know? Did she tell you that?" Ricky asked. Without replying, Andrew quickly occupied the booth directly facing the kitchen door.

Inside the kitchen

"What do you mean we're under attack?" "A gang of thugs just came into the estate and started attacking." the mysterious boy named Marco said. "How is that even possible? And why are you calling me? Where's Jaguar?" Regina asked. "He's already there, as well as Commissioner Collins. Also,... there's news about the contract."

These words made the frown on Gina's face deepen. "I'll be back." she said before she left to the house. Few minutes later, she returned in casual wear. Using the back door, she and Marco left the restaurant.

Back in the restaurant

Andrew patiently waited for Regina to return. "Hey Blondie! I'll like a strawberry milkshake with your name on it." Ricky exclaimed. Rolling her eyes, Rea got his order. "Umm, your name is missing from this order." Ricky said. "Oh I'm sorry. I accidentally dropped it into the drink." said Rea sarcastically.

Before she could bat an eyelid, he had slurped down the whole drink! "Do you think I drank the paper?" he asked coyly. "Dimwit." Treasure said before leaving. "Do you think she was referring to me?" Ricky asked, but Andrew's focus was on the kitchen door.

Finally, the restaurant started to close up. "Dude we have to go." "When she comes back, I'll leave." Andy said. "She's probably having the time of her life with that guy. What makes you think she's coming back?" Andrew sent a cold glare to Ricky, silently warning him to shut up.

Ricky's attention quickly shifted to the blonde girl who just walked out the restaurant. "Well dude, catch you later." Ricky said before chasing after Treasure.

The chilly night breeze caressed Treasure's skin leaving a small trail of goosebumps. The restaurant closes by 9 on Tuesdays and she was on night shift duty. Her sister had already left by 6. As she walked down the empty sidewalk, she heard a voice in the distance. Looking back, she saw the dimwit chasing after her. What does he want? she thought.

"Wait. Are you walking or jogging? Don't you think it's a little too late for exercise?" he asked panting heavily. Rolling her eyes, she asked, "Why are you chasing me?" After composing himself, he replied, "Ever since I met you, I couldn't get my mind off you and it caused me more sleepless nights not knowing your name,... so please what's your name?"

Treasure stared at the boy's eyes which shown with desperation. "Why me?" she asked. "Why not chase and disturb other prettier girls?" she added. "I don't know,... you seem... different. Now I'm literally dying to know your name so,..." He stared at her, hopefully praying she'd comply. "Fine, since you're asking so much,... Treasure Anderson. That's my name." "So dimwit,... what's yours?"
