Chapter 20: Fever Induced

It had to be a dream. That was the first thing I thought as I woke up. There was no way that it could have been real. It didn’t feel real, in any case. But I wondered what with the morphine in my system if anything was going to feel real.

I tried my best to put it out of my head, and turned my attention to my body instead.

I could feel that I was starting to get better. I could feel more strength in my system and I knew that the worst of everything was over.

I was awake for about an hour, I managed to take myself to the bathroom and even got in a quick shower before I started to feel tired again. And by the time I got out of the shower, I saw that Jacob was waiting for me in his bedroom.

“Hey,” he greeted.

“Hi,” I answered, making my way to the bed and just managing to sit down.

I tried not to collapse on the bed, and lowered my weight down slowly. I didn’t want him to worry, and I knew that if I was anything other than improved since he had last seen me, he would worry.
