Chapter 38: Mia

“Am I really going to stay here?” I looked around the lovely appointed rooms of the palace as I walked in ahead of the court ladies. That day Jai and I dined here I hadn’t had a chance to look around.

“Yes my lady. The Crown Prince petitioned the emperor to allow this. It is a great honor to be sure.” The head court lady replied.

“No one has dwelt here in almost twenty years my lady. Not since the last Crown Princess, who’s now the Empress. But as you can see the palace has been kept up all these years.”

The younger girl, who was not much older than I rushed out before receiving a scolding look from the elder after imparting that information. I hid my grin, as those two seem to always be at odds with each other.

My eyes landed on the vase of flowers on the table in my sleep chamber. And my heart smiled when I saw the note tucked away amidst the many prettily wrapped gifts there. Walking over I placed my plant next to it and opened the note.
