Soul Core

Ren Zu finally arrived at his house, it's merely a small bamboo house which he rents for one bronze coin a month.

The currency in this world is called coin and they're classified as bronze, silver, and gold and each of these coins are made from spirit stones so cultivators can use them as either a currency or something they can absorb to refill their spirit essence.

The lowest currency is bronze coin, a hundred bronze coin is one silver coin and a hundred silver coin is one gold coin and vice versa.

Each cultivator the moment they awaken their soul will have gained spirit essence and this spirit essence fill up the soul, running out of these will be disastrous, these spritual essence are used to activate soul core. The lesser the lock in one's soul the more spirit essence can be filled for example having five locks just means that the maximum amount of spirit essence you can store in your soul is thirty percent.

four locks meanwhile is fifty percent, three locks seventy percent, and two locks ninety percent, and finally one lock with a hundred percent sprit essence storage.

Spirit essence regenerates on its own and the lesser the locks in one's soul the faster it regenerates, but of course there's another method to regenerate spirit essence and that's to absorb coins, as i said earlier coins contains spirit essence in them due to the fact that they're made using spirit stones.

There's also another unothordox method and that's by absorbing spiritual essence in the air but very few people manage to do this due to the fact that it requires a very specific technique.

Ren Zu gently laid his body at his bed and thought about all the thing's he will do tomorrow. It has become a habit of his to plan ahead.

The sun rose giving light to all life, Ren Zu woke up and dressed himself up, today is the day newly awakened cultivators can choose their soul core.

Soul core are stones, items, weapons, etc that contains the soul of beasts, humans, and any other beings that has a soul, a soul core is formed in two ways it's either a refiner hunts for a soul and captures it and then proceeded to fuse an object with that soul and if the refinement is sucessful that object will now have become a soul core containing the power of that soul, cultivators then try to subdue this soul core and gain the power of that soul core the second process is where a dying being automatically fuses with the closest object at the moment of his death and forms a soul core, the chance of this happening is fifty-fifty but if the being wants to be a soul core then the chance would a hundred percent.

Soul core are classified as fundamental, knowledge, talent, and awakened with fundamental as the most common and awakened as the rarest.

Fundamental soul core are the most common type of soul core, let's say for exampe a blood red soul fire cultivator died and he fused with a stone in his last breath and that stone became a blood red fundamental soul core.

A lone cultivator then found this soul core and captured it then subdued it, he now have the power to control & manipulate fire with the destructive power of blood red soul realm.

Then what if the soul core became a blood red knowledge soul core instead?the cultivator who subdued it will have the knowledge of the fire techniques of the cultivator that this soul core came from and at the same he will also have the power to control & manipulate fire.

Then what if the soul core became a blood red talent soul core instead?the cultivator who subdued it will be able to control fire, have the knowledge of the fire techniques of the cultivator this this soul core came from, and will gain the talent of the core source in controlling fire.

Core source means the one that the soul core came from, for example the fire cultivator is the core source. What if the soul core became a blood red awakened soul core instead?the one who subdued it will have the power to control fire, gain knowledge of the core source about fire, gain the talent of the core source in fire, and have the power to communicate with the core source, yes he can talk with the fire cultivator or the core source of that soul core, these kind of core source however have their own consciousness therefore they can fight back against those who try to capture or subdue them.

Ren Zu opened the door of his bamboo house and walked towards the Misty Mountain Sect, his seemingly mystical footsteps where every step has no sound.

He finally arrived at the sect's gate and saw that other sect disciples has arrived too, the mood of the atmosphere seems to be full of excitement as they muttered among themselves.

"Hi Feng Lou, are you excited like me too?"

"Where's the sect elder that will lead us to the underground soul core cave?so we can finally choose our own soul core"

"Oh look elder Yan Hiek is finally here!"

A black robed old man was calmly walking towards the sect gate with his right hand on his back while his left hand was stroking his beard.

As he arrived at the sect gate he said "Now follow behind me all of you"

as he entered the sect gate and all of the other students followed him as ordered, Yan Hiek walked towards the backyard of the sect and a huge tree could be seen there.

He walked towards the tree and the thirty disciples or so followed, Yan Hiek placed his hand on the tree and after a moment the tree suddenly opened like a door.

The disciples watched this with an amazed, Yan Hiek then said "now follow after me one by one" inside the tree there seems to be a stair that leads underground, the disciples followed after him one by one as ordered.

And after walking underground for a while they finally arrived at a cave-like place, there seems to be fireflies that have light to the darkness of this cave.

Yan Hiek then said "now all of you there are nature green Soul cores all around at this area of the cave now choose atleast three different soul cores" while saying this the disciples immediately hurried to choose their own soul cores.

"oh this stone seems to be a good soul core i'll take this"

"this bracelet seems to be great i hope it's a knowledge soul core!"

"hehe poor all of you my father already taught me how to identify some of the soul cores, and i'm quite good at it so i'll definitely have the greatest benefits here!"

"this is tiring, cultivation doesn't seem to be that fun i just wan't to lay down at home and read some books.."

Ren Zu however was looking around the cave and after looking for a while he finally found something that caught his eyes as he said while picking it "This should be a Beast Taming Soul Core and a knowledge class on top of that " This soul core is in the form of a necklace although it's a necklace it doesn't mean that to activate it's power one needs to wear it, in truth one just needs to subdue it and then the power will automatically be transferred to the user and as long as the soul core is not destroyed the user can keep on using the power that's precisely the reason why cultivators hide their soul cores in their soul so that the soul core being stolen or destroyed in battle is avoided.

Ren Zu picked this beast taming soul core as his first soul core and then looked around again while looking for another soul core he then found two soul core that he find suitable for him "this should be a mind reading talent soul core this allows one to be able to read a person's thoughts at the conscious level but it doesn't work when trying to read the thoughts of those with a higher realm and this another one is the azure fire knowledge soul core" Ren Zu thought.

While thinking Ren Zu immediately tried to subdue the three soul cores he found on the spot "heh i should subdue this three soul core, and hide them in my soul thereafter, i can't let them know that i've found this three precious soul core due to the fact that it might attract the jealousy of the other disciples and we don't wan't that, but i need to show the soul cores that i chose to that old man Yan Hiek and in front of everyone but fortunately, solving this is simple. After subduing and hiding this three soul cores in my soul i'll just find three common fundamental soul cores and show it to them, not only will this not make me suspicious it'll also make them understimate me" Ren Zu thought to himself confidently.

the reason why Ren Zu is so confident that no one will suspect him is because subduing soul cores takes a while specially for newly awakened cultivators, but Ren Zu doesn't seem to worry about that for he seems to have some secret means in subduing soul cores and how he can easily find rare soul cores and even identify each one of them to a certain degree is also a mystery.

After about thirty minutes Ren Zu has already sucessfuly subdued the three soul cores and found three common fundamental soul cores, at this time the disciples has also already found their own set of soul cores as old man Yan Hiek said "time's up, alot of time has already passed since we entered all of you should've already found three soul cores now hurry and follow behind me we will identify each of the soul cores you found"

After a while of walking everyone is finally outside of the cave and is now infront of the huge tree with pinkish leaves, Yan Hiek did the same process and the huge tree suddenly close and became a normal tree with no indication of it being a tree with a secret in it.

After doing so Yan Hiek pointed out his finger at the disciples behind him and said in a loud voice with a demanding tone "line up all of you, it's time for the soul core identification" the disciples automatically lined up and only then Yan Hiek began on identifying their soul cores one by one.

"Yun Chen, Fire Fox and Earth Tortoise fundamental soul cores, and a Nature Subduing knowledge soul core, not bad."

"Tortoise Defense and Tiger Strength fundamental soul cores, and a Rock Spirit Knowledge soul cores, not bad"

"Bai Xie, Nature Charm and Nature Yin Yang knowledge soul cores, with a Flesh Spirit Unity Talent soul core, such luck!"

"Next! oh what's this you actually dare hide a fourth soul core in your pocket, cheap tricks"

The identification continued until everyone's soul core was identified, everyone looked at the beauty Bai Xie with admiration and envy, he found two knowledge soul cores and a talent soul core everyone couldn't help but think "what heaven defying luck was this?" but of course those who knew Bai Xie didn't think that it was luck, because they knew that Bai Xie was taught "soul core identification" by her father.
