Challenge

Gasps erupt from the crowd. People are shocked because of the bold step Terrance just took. Rook turns to me. I nod once accepting the challenge. The people start clearing up in a circle leaving Terrance and I at the center. I look around and see Malice who is chewing on her bottom lip anxiously as James has a hand on her shoulder. I avert my gaze back to Terrance. He looks damn right determined to get me out of my alpha position.

Rook steps between Terrance and I.

"The rules of the battle are simple, there are no rules."

He steps back.

Terrance jumps and I hear his clothes rip. On landing, he is already a wolf. His wolf is big and grey. He growls as if challenging me. I also jump and my bones crackle as my wolf lets herself out. I feel the displacement of my bones as I take my other form. I land in front of Terrance' wolf. Though his wolf is bigger than mine, the most dominance still comes from me.

Terrance lunges foward but I dodge it. Before he can turn around I jump on his back letting my claws sink into it. He howls in pain. I jump off him and circle him. He jumps towards me again and I try to back away but he claws at my hind limb and I lose balance. He takes the opportunity to pounce on me. He claws at my shoulder dragging it down. I don't scream because it might show my weakness but the sting hurts.

There is a minute where the pain goes numb. I suddenly feel enraged.

*No not again.*

I scream from within but it's too late, the unspeakable power is already part of me. My wolf pushes Terrance off. He is stunned, I jump on him clawing like crazy. He just tries wriggling away but the power in me doesn't let him. Wounds are all over his body, I let my claws sink into his throat ready to rip it.

"No!"

I hear someone shout from the crowd. I turn to see Malice who is crying. I turn back to Terrance. He looks helpless. I suddenly feel regret. That power in me did it again, it took control of me. I let go of his throat and get off him. I shift back not minding the fact that I was naked.

Rook emerges from the crowd with two thin blankets and hands one to me. I cover myself up. I feel my wounds already closing up. Rook tosses the other blanket over Terrance who shifts back.

"You should be lucky alpha let you live."

Rook tells Terrance as he helps him up. Terrance looks at me and bows his head. Malice runs to Terrance and give him a hug till he winces.

"Don't do that again big brother."

She says and I feel like something cut deep into my chest.

*Brother.*

I suddenly feel the need to leave. I turn around and catch Malik staring at me from near the trees. He shakes his head in disapproval.

I ignore him and go back to my room. I really didn't plan to fight anyone.

I take a shower and dress up in comfy clothes.

I haven't checked my phone since morning. I put it on and see millions of notifications but one short message catches my eye.
