"Yours will be just as good," Nancy predicted. "I know it's hard not knowing, but see? She'll be alright, and you'll have one as well. Let's just hope he or she is more like Barbie than you in terms of beauty and intelligence."

Rickey gave Nancy a filthy look before laughing. "I'd be perfectly happy with that," he said to Barbie, who moved up to him and snuggled against his side.

Carl took in his surroundings, including the newest member of his family. The protective instinct sprang in Carl, and he knew he would do whatever it needed to keep them all safe. As he observed the two happy couples, a hollow sensation emerged in the pit of his stomach, and he instantly felt desire, an anguish.

Carl was taken aback. His inner wolf had never been so vocal to him, certainly not when he was totally human. He emitted a quiet grunt and scowled.
