The expedition and it's riches
It was many years ago now, but the Sand Striders had discovered a strange hole in the shifting seas of the desert that revealed great darkness below. Through the darkness were glints of lights that pierced past the veil so that the rixis could see them.
After finding it and the elders and chieftain discussing what they should do, they decided to explore it and see what was down there. They used fire to break the darkness, allowing them to walk into the cave and see the different types of materials stuck in the walls and floors.
Deciding not to explore too deeply in case of anything happen, so they quickly got to work lighting up and taking whatever they could find to bring back to the tribe. Some tried to bite the strange-looking shapes while others used them to hit each other, which showed how far the rixis had to go.
They left the cave without incident and strode back to the tribe and showed them the strange bounties that they took. Sadly, after a month of not knowing what to do with them, they were quickly forgotten along with the cave.
It had little importance to them since they didn't know what they could do with the metals and rocks, so it was ignored as they had more important priorities. This is how it went for a while longer as the tribe would rather focus on fighting and food than some strange objects, and that was until the Little Blues came.
The striders brought 2 brothers who were greeted with respect and gifted many pelts and pleasantries, and we were given a small mud hut to stay in.
After settling into the clan's tribe well and while travelling through the different homes and towards the storage area, we discovered the strange rocks. Instantly, the brothers understood that these rocks were incredibly useful and got to work on finding out why.
Together, they found that one of the rocks was acutely what we know as copper, and after a few months of studying and testing, they realized its uses. But to understand more about the other rocks and gain even more things to test and try, they would need more.
The main problem was making the rixis see the value in these materials so the blue brothers did what they did best discover and create. More months went by as multiple explosions and loud pops came out of the little mud hut where the two lived. Many Sand Striders wondered and worried for them as they had no idea what was going on inside and just hoped they wouldn't kill themselves.
It took some time to get right with multiple failed products and many small hand injuries that were related to using the sap of the desert plants. Once they had accomplished their goals, they called for the chieftain and elders to show off their new invention so that they would agree with their plan.
The two brothers came to the open square in which the leaders would discuss different problems within the clan and tribe and had all assembled.
The brothers quickly showed off the new and strange-looking inventions, which were a mix of wood, string, and different saps with a strange, smooth looking martial similar to stone but smoother and harder.
The current tribe chieftains name Quick Switch was curious about these tools as one reminded him of the wooden spears they used just shorter and thicker.
"What are these things, and why have you brought them to us?"-Quick Switch
The brothers didn't have names and just went by their titles, the brothers, so the first older brother was the one who usually talked.
"We used the rocks you found in the hole and tried and tested it in many ways until we moulded and shaped it into this"-Older brother
He showed them his primitive pick axe, which was a mix of copper wood and other materials to keep it together, but overall, he worked to make the tool.
"With this, a tool I called a pick axe we can mine more material in the cave, and it will be easier and will also allow us to create sharper rocks and shape things
To how we want them to be"-Older brother
"But why should we want that spending all our time and energy on as you say mining some rocks?"-Quick Switch
"Well, that's quite simple because of this"-Older brother
He then showed off the first-ever sword to be created, which was filled with bumps and not completely straight and most likely has some small cracks they can't see.
But it was still the first success and was quite a sight to see as its creator, the younger brother, held it from the wooden handle and hoisted it into the air, allowing the sun to hit it.
The younger brother was more of the showman and knew that showing it off could help more than explaining what it could do for them.
"This material we are calling copper can be turned through smelting into a metal that is stronger than wood and stone and can be good for weapons and with your help more tools and armour"-Older brother
"Hm... Why is it so small?"-Quick Switch
"Ah well, we just thought since we have spears, why not something for close-up combat?"-Older brother
The younger brother demonstrated by getting a thick branch and cutting it with the sword and then showing some quick slashes and stabs.
"I admit it is an interesting weapon and tool, but just why should we do it when our spears work fine and we can't eat rocks"-Quick Switch
"Well, to put it simply, everyone here has a similar role, which is to think of the future and the children who will come"-Oldwr brother
"In a way yes"-Quick Switch
"Well, with these inventions come more opportunity and innovation, the beetle has started to roll, and it won't ever stop it's inevitable, and if you don't do it, someone will"-Older brother
That caused a stir among the other elders as the thought of being left behind was not something they wished for their grandchildren.
"Why are you so sure of this"-Quick switch
"Well, it just seems right to me and my brother as the way forward as we grower and evolve our technology and societies"-Older brother
"This metal can lead us down many other paths while not viable or visible right now will bring achievements and power to the clan"-Younger brother
The elders and chieftain looked at the younger brother who spoke for the first time in front of them, and we were quite surprised to hear his voice.
They then asked the brothers to come back to more while they discussed and pondered if they should go about walking the path set before them.
It was the next day, and the brother quickly got ready and walked back to the square in which the leaders were already talking, which stopped once they came.
"Greeting Chieftains, has a decision been made on the matter? "-Older brother
"Yes, it has while I am unsure of sending manpower and resources that could go elsewhere. I do believe great things could come of this"-Quick Switch
"So for 1 year, we will mine and create using materials from the hole, and unless we find a reason to continue, it will stop. This is our decision"-Quick Switch
"Thank you, Chieftain and Elders. I and my brother are both confident that this discovery will be the face of the clan in the future to come"-Older brother
"Indeed work will start in 3 days, so get ready, and you may go"-Quick Switch
The brothers made their way back to the small mud hut they lived in and quickly burst into laughter and dancing once no one could see them.
Watching them without their knowledge was Jack, who was currently biting his nails at the thoughts he was having.
"I know they speak English, but why do they use the same words for things?"-Jack
"What will come of this?"
"Could this cause more division and strife?"
"Do I need to learn about blacksmithing?"
