Chapter III. The Ambush

Sitting inside the carriage, it wasn't one of the most comfortable rides I had before but it didn't matter. Soon I would arrive at my new own land, wich I could rule as I pleased.

Of course I wouldn't do any dumb things but try to improve the town and the life of the civilians.

We were already many hours of traveling from the castle away, and the Sun slowly began to descend into its slumber.

I was traveling with 2 knights of the first stage and one normal person who served as a driver.

I had summoned my personal 3rd stage in the mansion already and told him to follow me in secret.

"System? Let me see the status of Zhang Yu"

That was the name I gave him after he was summoned.

Unbeknownst, many shadows were hiding behind the trees, always watching the carriage and not letting them do anything unnoticed.

I was feeling very tired from the journey and so, I decided to go back to the carriage and take my rest there.

Not knowing anything would happen tonight.

In the middle of the night, the stars were shining as brightly as they could,

the birds were lying in their nests. Everything was quiet. And it seemed as if no one wanted to disturb this peace. Or?

The shadows moving between the trees were restless. As they finally chose to move, a killing intent shot through the air.

With their swords pulled out and their strength, they jumped out of the bushes, running towards the two guards. The guards couldn't even react before they were already heavily injured.

"Who are you?"

It didn't seem as if they would reply.

The clashing of the swords was loud, if not louder as anything else in the night.

One of the shadows stabbed towards the guard, as the sword almost reached the upper part of the stomach, a metal sound came from the carriage.

The door made out of gold and wood opened and a young boy, about 17 years old stepped out.

"What is going on?!"

I shouted without looking outside, when I opened the door.

I could clearly hear the clashing of swords. Then I saw these men wearing clothes like assassins.

"An Ambush? But who would dare? I didn't provoke anyon-"

and then I remembered.

There was only one person, nick Neverland provoked before I became him.

The Guards Captain…

"How dare you attack me?!"

"Don't you want to live?"

None of the shadows seemed to care about my speech, as one of the assassins cried out,

"There he is! Kill him!"

Within a moment, these people turned to me and started to run towards me. I was still in a shock when the first person already appeared before me. He pushed his sword towards me.

In this moment, something in my head turned on. Like an instinct. The Will to live.

I turned my head towards the side, shot my fist into his lower stomach part and pushed him onto the ground.

This feeling, it was ..

My blood was boiling, never did I have this feeling before.

But was I scared? Hahah, no

I liked it. I licked my fingers and my face revealed the look of a devil.

The person on the ground was scared ill by what happened just now.

I already appeared infront of him in a moment of unawareness, I pulled his sword out of his hand and with a smile on my face pushed it into his heart. The blood was spattering out of his body.

Around him, the ground was full with blood and pieces of body parts.

I didn't really care, because in the next second I had already rushed towards the next person,

It appeared on the head of my enemy. As it seems it was a new function I unlocked. I could now see the status of anyone I looked at, well it wasn't much information but that would probably change in the future.

The person I locked onto had already killed one of the guards and was fighting against the other soldier.

Because of that, he didn't see what had happened, so when I came to him, not only was he not scared but he also was smiling.

As he was smiling, I smiled back at him.

He was a bit irritated and couldn't guess why I did that.

Only that he suddenly felt something in his body, entering his upper body.

Then he fell on his knee, accepting his death because of his ignorance.

"Mhpf You dare to kill two of my men?!"

A sudden voice made me tremble a bit.

When I turned around I saw a tall and big man, releasing a bit of his pressure.

A 3rd Stage? That fluctuations made me tremble. But I knew I wanted to at least tea to fight him.

I took a defense pose and lifted my sword up towards him.

"Come on, if you dare!" I laughed.

The middle aged man started running towards me, swinging his halberd in circles.

Releasing a scary killing intent.

The Sword and the Halberd clashed with one another and made a rumbling metallic sound.

The Halberd was slashing against my sword and I knew it wouldn't hold for any longer.

"Chhh Chh"

Small Cracks appeared on the surface of the sword embedded with blood.

The Assassin took one last hit on my sword and I got kicked away, my body landed against a very thick dark tree.

I could feel my breath getting weaker and weaker, only having enough strength to say two words.

"Zhang Yu!"

As if that was a call for help, it resounded in the air a thousand times.

"Zhang Yu? Who's that? Do you really think anyone will come and help y—"

"Master!"

A sudden voice interrupted the assassin.

"How dare you threaten his majesty!" The voice shouted out. A 3rd Stage Pressure was released and stopped the assassin's tracks.

"A 3rd stage cultivator?!"

The Assassin was shocked, captain said he hasn't any support, how come there is a 3rd stage cultivator at his side? He thought.

Let's escape here first, I don't know how strong he is. I have to notify captain about this. He thought and jumped through the bushes, running away.
