Curses and sleep

"When will you understand that you are not strong enough to inflict any damage?" He said still clutching the wrist that held a dagger. The same one she stole from Joel.

"I will never be strong enough. I have no magic..."

"There is a way you can retrieve your magic princess," He said calmly releasing her, letting his words sink into her, all while sneakily taking the knife from her grasp.

Kieran made his way towards the table and opened the bottle of wine to pour some into his glass. He walked towards a couch and sat on it gracefully while observing her shocked expression slowly morphing into a rage.

"You knew it all this time and didn't even bother telling me?" She yelled. She knew for a fact that Kieran wouldn't lie about something like that.

"That is because if I tell you, you'll be concentrating on your magic forgetting to train in combat as well. You will need both if you want to kill an enemy like me"

"My magical prowess is far stronger than you think, what tells you you are so strong that I can't annihilate you with a single spell?"

"I am sure you'll see it someday. Wine?" He asked and she continued glaring at him. "No wine then" A short silence passed between them. "Do you know why your kingdom was easily crushed despite the power you thought you held?" He asked her and she did her best to keep her calm before his all-knowing expression.

"Enlighten me please," She said sarcastically while he just smiled.

"All your so-called warriors were just high-grade witches. I still don't understand how witches managed to stay on top of vampires for so long"

"My people were powerful as well" She felt the urge to defend them even though she didn't remember them.

"I never said they weren't. They could have won the war if they were just a little more trained. Listen, mages rely solely on the power of the elements or things they control, but once you find a way to cross through it or even better, nullify it, they are just as weak as untrained kids. That was how we managed to throw the balance. We nullified the magic of a whole country, not easy but achievable"

"You participated in the war that destroyed my home country?"

"Yes," He said nonchalantly still drinking from his cup of wine.

"I can't believe it. You..." She even lacked words to express the rage and the fury she felt at that moment. That was when she realized she didn't have her knife anymore.

"You know, things are not always what they seem to be," He said drawing her attention back to him.

"What do you mean?"

"I believe there are some things you did not tell me," He said very seriously making her heart skip a beat.

She began panicking while frantically looking around the room.

'He couldn't know about her memory loss and confusion, neither could he know about that woman who tried to attack her the other day, right?'

Adaliah knew there were many question marks around her but she decided to ignore them. She had always ignored her problems and it worked pretty well till today, why would she waste her precious sanity on things she wasn't sure she wanted to know?

After all, ignorance is a blessing.

Kieran on the other hand knew the expression on her face and smiled bitterly. She still had so many things to learn so he took a resolution.

"I am going on a short trip to the royal castle. As soon as I am back we are going on another trip you'll surely like. Your assignment during this time will be to learn arrows and sword art. All of them. Astonish me."

"May I know what that trip we'll go to consists of?" She asked in mock politeness.

"Oh, just breaking the curse on you" He answered gazing outside.

"A... curse?" She asked confused.

"There is a curse that hinders your magic" He continued.

"How do you know?" she asked defensively.

"I just do" He grinned showing his two gleaming canines. "Are you not going to reward me?" He asked and she scoffed, turning away, deeming their conversation was over, only to be pinned against the door.

Her eyes widened in shock seeing him so close to her, with a smile on his face.

"I am curious about what your blood tastes like" He whispered and she tried to push him off her without much result.

"Greed is one of the seven deadly sins." She informed only to hear him chuckle.

"You know, it won't hurt if I bite you"

"All the vampires who tried to bite me said that too"

"Vampires bites will only be painful if they want it to be. To be sincere, pretty much all vampires are twisted. It gives a sort of satisfaction when we hurt humans."

"That was why witches tried to eliminate you all"

"And that was why we destroyed you. Back to the topic, Vampires can also bite you to arouse you"

"I hope you know the only way you'll drink from me is by force"

"Why do you think we bite humans before fucking them, or at least in cases when we want to reduce the fric..."

"Shut up, I don't want to know, now let go immediately"

"You are blushing" He teased and she thrashed again, only managing to rub her hips on him.

"No I am not" She refuted strongly. Just then, his smile dropped and he uttered very seriously.

"You are sleeping here tonight," He said. "Or are you falling for me that you know you won't resist my charm"

"Do not flatter yourself that much, I just don't trust you" She stuttered feeling his hot breath against her neck.

"Then why are you stammering?" His voice deepened and become even huskier, resulting in a blush tinting her cheeks.

"I hate proximity"

"And why are you blushing?"

"It's hot" She stuttered and he finally pushed away from her, giving her room to calm her racing heart.

"You are too transparent. Even when you try not to be mad, I can see it on your face, your face, and your heart. My little advice is not to fall for me, else it won't be fun for you"

"I hate you and I still feel the urge to kill you. Even more, now that you admitted so blatantly that you were involved in the destruction of my country. You, vampires are despicable, coming to someone's place to destroy it"

"For your information, it was one of you that called us and another one who started the war. We just took advantage of your secret internal conflict."

"What?!"
