Chapter-14 I can kill Bane (Rewritten)

The sun is shining, and there are no clouds in the sky.

A gentle breeze drifted in through the window, bringing with it a rare moment of good weather for Gotham after many decades.

The sunny conditions seemed to uplift everyone's spirits, but Harley Quinn was an exception. Stephen didn't pay much attention, squinted his eyes, and lay down for a while before getting up.

He dressed and washed up.

Stephen descended the stairs, his expression slightly furrowed.

Normally, Harley Quinn would be making breakfast and waiting for him to come down, but today there was no breakfast, and Harley Quinn was nowhere to be found.

"Hmm... never mind."

Stephen didn't dwell on it and prepared something to eat. Just as he finished, the door swung open.

However, it wasn't Harley Quinn who entered; it was Barbara Gordon in her Batgirl suit and Talia al Ghul wearing trousers. They had come to prepare for action. Barbara Gordon introduced themselves to each other, kindly introducing Talia al Ghul to Stephen during their first encounter. She even expressed her gratitude to Stephen for being willing to help them in their mission to save Gotham.

Evidently, Barbara Gordon hadn't mentioned anything about the awkwardness she experienced the previous day or seeing Stephen.

"My father will lead the attack on City Hall in an hour. Then, Miranda, you, and I will head straight to Bane. Are you okay with that?" Barbara Gordon asked Stephen.

Stephen nodded indifferently.

Barbara Gordon nervously checked their equipment once again and reminded Talia al Ghul to stay close to her.

Stephen didn't know where Harley Quinn had gone. Originally, he had planned to bid her farewell before leaving. After all, she had contributed a lot to his quality of sleep with her pillow business. However, since she didn't come to see him now, he decided to let it go. Life is just a journey. I cross paths with you, and you cross paths with me.

"It's almost time. Let's go," Barbara Gordon said, glancing at the time.

Stephen picked up his backpack and they headed out. The three of them got into the car and drove toward City Hall.

At Bane's base camp, numerous groups of armed mobs had gathered at the front door of City Hall. Two tanks developed by Wayne Enterprises stood at the forefront, and a group of people kneeled in the direction indicated by the armed mob. James Gordon, leading the surviving police and the righteous citizens of Gotham, appeared solemn and resolute.

This was their first gathering, and it might be their last. Although the opposing side had more armed mobs, and even a steel tank that could decimate their flesh and blood, they didn't flinch.

They fought for survival, fought for freedom, and fought for justice!

James Gordon, standing at the front, glanced at his wristwatch. It was almost time, why hadn't they arrived?

Boom!

Suddenly, a loud engine noise shattered the moment of silence as a car screeched to a halt from behind, leaving long tire marks. It stopped between the two factions.

"You're crazy."

Barbara Gordon couldn't help but snap when she saw Stephen driving the car straight to their location. The original plan was to wait for her father and the others to launch an attack, and then they would seize the opportunity to find Bane amidst the chaos. But now, they had become the target of public attention. Before finding Bane, they had to deal with this mob.

"Do you want to find Bane directly?" Stephen turned his head and asked.

"Obviously, yes," Barbara Gordon replied.

Stephen glanced at Talia al Ghul and said to Barbara Gordon, "I have a way to easily take you to see Bane."

"What... How?" Barbara Gordon asked in astonishment.

"But first, do you have handcuffs? Give them to me."

Barbara Gordon, curious but not questioning, retrieved the handcuffs from her utility belt and handed them to Stephen. "What do you need handcuffs for?"

"Oh, nothing much... just to cuff you!"

Stephen took the handcuffs and lightly secured Barbara Gordon's hands. With a click, she was now handcuffed.

"What are you doing?" Barbara Gordon seemed taken aback by the sudden turn of events.

"Ha, figure it out yourself..." Stephen smiled, shook his head, and got out of the car. He opened the door and grabbed Barbara Gordon with one hand and Talia al Ghul with the other.

In an instant, the attention of both sides focused on the three of them.

James Gordon looked at them with a foreboding feeling, and upon seeing Barbara Gordon's handcuffed hands, he and his daughter yelled at Stephen, struggling to contain their anger.

"Asshole, how could you betray..."

"Boom!"

Before Barbara Gordon could finish her sentence, she was punched in the lower abdomen. Her scream abruptly ceased as she bent over, resembling a shrimp.

"Stephen, you bastard!"

Betrayed!

James Gordon shouted furiously.

The sudden turn of events caught both sides off guard. James Gordon's faction saw their ally betraying them, dampening their morale. On the other side, people began to grasp the situation. Someone quickly went inside to inform Bane.

Certain thugs jeered knowingly at Stephen. "What can you do for Bane?"

Stephen smiled brilliantly. "I can kill Bane. Do you believe me?"

Kill Bane?

As they witnessed him gripping Talia al Ghul by the neck with one hand and holding Barbara Gordon's handcuffs, causing her pain and preventing her from standing up, who could have imagined that they were betrayed when seeking Stephen's help? What a farce! It seemed he was nothing more than an opportunist.

"Believe you? Only fools would believe a word you say!"

Laughter erupted, and the tense and deadly atmosphere suddenly transformed into joy.

Amidst the laughter, the crowd quickly parted, making way for a tall, muscular man wearing a black metal mask. The mask covered his mouth and nose, emanating a chilling darkness. His eyes were sharp and ferocious, and he exuded a deathly aura like a beast, making people afraid to meet his gaze.

The breaker of backs, the madman Bane!
