Chapter one The marriage contract.

Sarah slowly walked to the Davis mansion with one thing in mind.Every step she took, she kept reminding herself, `it is just a two year contract then we go our separate ways, no strings attached. She didn't like this marriage contract idea, especially with that domineering man, did her father have to go that far in the name of friendship promises that they made even before she was born? What if she was born a boy?

She slowly entered the mansion with high heels and causing the whole house to turn their attention on her "Welcome, madam. "the butler politely greeted.

She smiled and said, "Thank you." She said hello to everyone in the dining but no one replied except one man who looked the same age as his father, the rest were looking at her with indifference. She turned to the butler and said, "could you please show me to my room?"

The butler pointed to the stairs and bowed respectfully, "this way please madam."

Sarah smiled faintly and excused herself but no one cared neither did she care.

But behind her, someone sneered, "dad, did you have to find a lady with such a bad reputation to marry my brother?" Maddie who is believed to be Damian's sister asked.

His father replied, "that shouldn't be your business!"

"But father, Damian already has a girlfriend!" Maddie was still complaining. Damian's girlfriend was her best friend. They once met at a gala party and realized they have a lot in common.

"Then he should think about breaking up." At this moment the butler came downstairs, his name was John, "John, when Damian comes back today tell him to move to the other villa tomorrow with his wife after they get their marriage certificate." He stood up and took the business magazine that John offered him and walked towards the balcony, "Bring me my coffee at the usual place."

"yes sir."

Sarah stood outside the balcony of the guest room and contemplated on what to do after the marriage. She knew how people thought of her, but she was one who never cared about what people say. She had purposefully arrived in the evening so that she could have her own rest. She walked back to the room, humming a song and went straight to the bathroom.

Fifteen minutes later, she came out of the bathroom, feeling refreshed and still humming a song silently while wiping her face. When she was done, she noticed the figure sitting at the couch in her bedroom. A man who seemed to be in his early thirties. "can't you knock or at least stay away until I come out? What if I came out naked?"

Instead of answering, he said, "you should know I hate lazy people, and since we are going to sign a marriage contract, you have to be hardworking." After he finished speaking, he stood up without waiting for Sarah to speak and walked towards the door. Before he opened the door, he came to a halt and said, "one more thing, whether you are naked completely or dressed I see no difference, I still despise you. Remember I have a girlfriend."

Sarah just kept quite, of course she knew he had a girlfriend, because she is her high-school desk mate. Though they haven't talked for a while and things change.
