Chapter 14: Into the ripple dimension part 1

Max stepped into the void, tearing apart space and with one step he vanished before their eyes.

Rika and ai sayama stood in a grant hall, they had just watched max void walk and knew that he was heading into the ripple dimension.

" are you sure about this mistress ? "

" yes.... there is no other way, as much as i want to just believe that he will be able to win the way of clan succession. i can not risk it, i can't risk my family, my daughters. we don't know what the sly foxes have prepared, we need him to be stronger"

ai sayama replied to rika.

" bu.. but that's a unexplored door, where it leads no one knows and what lays behind it might be the end for h"

" enough rika, sigh... i know what you fear, but this is his only chance... as he follows the first wave into that unexplored ripple door even if he does not venture deep the fortune he might find is still enough for him to grow "

ai sayama said, " i only hope he does not die " she whispered to herself.

she knew that it was unfair to put all this expectations on him, he was not even a man yet, he was only 19 but, this was the times everyone had to risk their lives for strength,

she herself being weak understood how miserable and helpless it was to live without enough power to protect yourself.

if he didn't die he would grow, after all this was a door that had just appeared and led to an unexplored area in the ripple dimension.

max walked through the void after saying goodbye to ai sayama and rika, the void was a deep black with purple, blue, red and green crystal like shards. max was not too sure what they were

but max felt a desire to grab them and yet... at the same time he felt a immense danger from them telling him not to let them touch him.

this was not the first time his seen these shard like things, since he could tear apart space and void walk he has always seen them, the shards held a deep allure to him but the feeling of danger made him always stay clear of them.

as max walked six small steps he suddenly tore the space by willing his Phanes energy.

the void tore a slit that quickly expanded and light spilt into the deep darkness before being consumed. max stepped out into the crack and appeared far away from the sayama courtyard and even a great distance from the capital city.

max looked back at the city and could barely see it in the distance, only now did he process how convenient his void ability was. he could easily traverse great distances in small steps, with this he could carry out surprise attacks or escape from danger.

but this was not the time to think about it max knew that it was pointless to think so much if he died in this ripple dimension, then it would be pointless.

ai sayama had told him of the dangers that lay in being in the first wave of people to venture into a new ripple dimension door.

he knew he could very well die, and die at any time before he even had the chance to live and experience this new world.

max didn't think that this was some web novels he used to read before, he did not think that he was the protagonist or somewhat chosen in any way.

yes he had a rare ability, but he was sure that there were many others who did, he had heard that there was someone in the holy river church had the ability to drown, having faith in the holy seas, ai sayama told him that this was only a 15 years old boy but had the ability of water that allowed him to drown anything in his concept of drowning.

when max heard this he was frightened, what kind of monster had such an over powered ability that made other abilities useless ?

he can't imagine fighting a 15 year old boy and finding yourself helpless because your ability was somehow drowned and became useless and all you could do was wait for death.

even abilities would drown in his concept making them useless. max did not know if his void energy would just be drowned too making him helpless.

of course ai sayama later explained to him that this concept of drowning was not absolute, there were abilities that were stronger than it so could not be affected or just could not be drowned, just like water can not be drowned, it is water, there were other abilities that were naturally resistant against this ability.

this was when max realised that he was not that great, he did defeat Sir alex but now that he thought about it, it was mostly because Sir alex was too arrogant and did not take him seriously and on top of that his ability is very rare so it was unexpected.

ai sayama told him that if Sir alex was not so careless he could have created a fire coating around himself.

by coating himself in a layer of fire he could have created a fire barrier hot enough to melt all ordinary weapons making them just melt before they could hurt him.

and because he is a higher rank than max, max could not just tear space into his body and make the sword appear inside him and kill him instantly because his Phanes energy is of lower grade and can not disrupt or affect Sir alex.

the reason max could so arrogantly tear apart space and void walk everywhere was because the Phanes energy in the air are not that strong, and the space energies that held together space itself max didn't know why but he felt like they just treated him as family and don't really hinder him.

Ai sayama told him all this just to make him aware of his strength and not let him get arrogant and die one day because he thought he was great and could just fight and slaughter people in higher classes and ranks.

max realised how weak his noob class truly was, to think if Sir alex just coated himself it would have made him helpless. max knew he was not special, he just had a high starting point because of his ability.

and because of this he had to struggle, he had to risk his life and move forwards towards danger so that he could find the chance to over turn and become stronger.

that's why even knowing that this was a trip into an unexplored door he had to risk it. he could die just like every one else. but he needed to fight for a chance, he did not want to be mediocre as before, he wanted to stand on top of this world, he wanted to be the hunter on top of the food chain.

max looked at the map he had been given and calculated the distance whilst resting. it consumed energy everytime abilities were used and with his class which was low so he didn't have too much energy.

after resting for a bit max once again stepped into the void, heading towards the ripple dimension gate.

a day later max arrived near the gate.

in the distance there it stood.

imposing, nailed to the void above the ground, floating above all.

it was magnificent, the gate towered into the skies casting a looming shadow on its surroundings.

it looked like it was crafted by some higher beings, with a air of mystery.

it was a grey gate, with chains forming from the void chaining it's four corners to something unknown. the chains rattled and shook every so often.

lightning stuck above it, and just below it a grey lightning bolt different from the others struck the ground that was bare of anything.

this grey lightning was spit from the gate itself.

max looked upon this imposing scene.

and was scared by it. max was not timid but there was something about this gate that made him fearful, it made him feel as if he was insignificant and worthless.

suddenly there was a pat on his shoulder.

" scary right ?" a man with a sly look and leather armor said right after patting his shoulder. max was so captivated and drawn by the gate he did not even notice him approach.

" don't worry you will never get used to it, i been around here for some years and yet i still feel like an ant before this gate... everyone does" the man stretched his hand to max

" i am guessing it's your first time here to the gate, my name is syfilous, wayne syfilous "

max took his hand " max" he responded briefly

" max ? huh, if you don't mind me asking what family are you from¨

max did not know why he asked but he still replied " I'm just from a small unknown family", max had yet thought of a family name for himself, he refused to use his fathers name, now that he was all alone he wanted to create his own family.

" ahh your from a unknown small family hahahaha that is great !, that is great ! we like people like you" wayne hugged max as he laughed and said

" would you like to join us, you and me are alike, we are all from small families... and in the gate us small people have to stick together, or the big clans will kill us and grab everything and we won't even get to eat the soup "

max did not trust the man, something about him felt off.

he didn't even ask his class and rank but was still so enthusiastic and wanted max to join him, if there wasn't a plot max wouldn't believe it even if you killed him.

but max still felt, that he made sense being with people who knew their way around would be useful.

" you came here for the new unexplored door right ? " wayne asked before max answered him.

" yes how did you know ?"

" it's not hard to tell, it's a new door ! you know what that means, wealth, greatness, power!!, all that at your finger tips, a untapped field of gold, who wouldn't want it, with the news of a new door appearing after 4 years spreading through the lands, of course everyone would be excited. now come come with me " wayne said as he dragged max to a group standing to the side of the road.

max finally looked around, there were camps spanning into the distance as far as the naked eye could see all around the gate. and there were 5 wide roads coming from different direction and on them were carriages pulled by horses and strange four legged animals, some had tusks and thick skin and chains around their tusk connecting to carriages with heavy goods.

the surrounding were noisy with the sound of people talking and walking about.

as max looked around only now did he realize that there were so many people. the people were into the thousands.

max did not think there would be so many people willing to risk their lives.

wayne noticed him looking around

" there are so many people right, it's normally not these busy only a few thousands normally but with the new door unsealing itself tomorrow every one is ready to head into the unknown.

the sad thing is that more than half of this thousands of people might not even make it back, and in the worst case scenario it will be like the day death called the kingdom of Lu and wipe out everyone who enters the new door" wayne spoke slowly " but we can not be that unlucky right ?" he questioned

max just shook his head he didn't know if they were lucky or not

with a nervous laugh wayne continued as they neared his good " there is no way it will be that bad, no matter what we have to make it out alive"

( there is so many things i want to explain, but i feel like i might info dump you, so im trying my best to slowly explain thing, things like concept and the door unsealing itself and so on i will explain slowly its already 2000 words i don't want to slow the story too much. i know you all want some excitement, don't worry this ripple dimension exploration will be good and exciting. be patient )
