Darren inhales and exhales slowly. “No one is claiming that it will be simple. It won't happen. Even when there are just two individuals involved, maintaining healthy relationships may be difficult. However, in order to save what we worked so hard to build in Colorado, I am ready to work through this challenge.

I can't guarantee that things won't be challenging, but I can guarantee that I'll do my best to overcome any obstacles that may arise.

“What if it backfires and makes a fool of us?”

My response to it is an uncontrollable guffaw. “Milo, how have you been spending these few days since Christmas? Have you been enjoying yourself?” Because there is no way in hell that we have.”

His eyes seem to be blurry. “I'm sorry, Grace. The last several days haven't been very enjoyable for me, either.
