Chapter 114

So secretly marrying one of the world's wealthiest men doesn't last long.

Luke worked as I slept on the flight to France.

Luke's rush to go to work meant we just had coffee and pastries for breakfast. By the time the aircraft landed, the story of our marriage was spreading, and I knew it would reach my friends soon. Odelia lacked tact.

Luke told us to keep our heads down as we entered his vehicle.

“What?” I said. “Why?”

Luke sighed. “Because,” he explained gently, “there are photographers everywhere, and you gave them a beautiful picture of your face.”

What? I wasn't happy. Jet lagged from slingshotting to England and back, I didn't know what hour it was.

Luke stated as he went through another email, “We'll be discovered, but do it on your terms.” He gave me a cheeky glance. “Do some make up. You may need a haircut.”

Luke grabbed my hand as I rubbed my face and hair in distress. Before releasing me, he murmured, “You look great.”

“Thanks, Joyce.”
