Chapter 131: Fixation And Vexation

The Drive Way, The Rawsone Residence, Denver, Colorado...

After pulling into the driveway, Lonnie Collins took a few moments to gather himself as he stared out the window at the impressively large house that had belonged to Doctor Hadrian Rawsone and his family for quite some years before his coming along. He did not doubt that Bethany had still been inside as desperate for his cock as ever given her pregnancy hormones and the fact that he'd been anxious about leaving a pregnant Lex back at the motel while he played house with the one woman who had tried to erase him from existence just to cozy up to a man she didn't even want had been the icing on the cake as far as his current manner of problems had gone.

With a resigned sigh, Lonnie exited the car and made his way back into the house. He did his best to quell his sense of dread as he attempted to forget how Julia ambushed him and shipped him off to the funny farm just to fry his and Hadrian's brains to get her way. The very thought of her had repulsed him and just as his hand gripped the doorknob, he felt the inevitable sensation of dizziness overtake him and he was gone, leaving a rather dazed and confused Doctor Hadrian Rawsone to enter his home unsure why he'd left it in the first place.

Samantha had been the first to greet him a smile filed across her face as she raced her younger twin sister toward him. He recalled briefly the other two girls who stood back laughing as they watched their respective best friends hug their returning father. Hadrian recognized the two young blondes as Lauren Marino and Bethany Stevenson. He did his best not to alert anyone about his knowledge of Bethany being pregnant or the fact that he knew he'd been the father of her unborn child.

"Hi Daddy!" shouted Sam happily.

"Bout time you got back," added Jessica with a smile of her own.

Hadrian seemed a bit more at ease with his girls in each arm as he entered the house. Julia stepped out of the kitchen and smiled as she looked Hadrian over pleased to have him home at a decent hour. He looked no worse for wear according to her standards but she had not been privy to his exploits either inside or outside of their house.

The girls moved out of the way sending a kiss coming on and giggling like small children when it took place, well all aside from Bethany who tended to look constipated despite being well aware that her lover had been a mentally ill and happily married man.

The good doctor Hadrian wrapped his arms around his wife and she allowed him to resume his venture through the house following their greeting kiss. He had been feeling pretty good as of late compared to how he'd been when he first got home from the hospital but he was still having difficulty recalling things and adjusting to his new normal so to speak.

Hadrian sighed as he made his way toward his armchair and noted what the girls were watching on the television. A low-budget high school drama that made him want to roll his eyes.

"You girls don't believe life is this dramatic do you?" he asked with an arched brow.

"Of course not Daddy, we just want to see which boys are cute," replied Jessica with a smirk.

Hadrian had been caught off guard by her reply and thought it best to venture up to his office.

Sam shook her head. Jessica had been the more "girly" of the two of them after all. Julia poked her head out from the kitchen to announce that dinner would be served soon. Hadrian sighed as he looked over at Bethany who seemed to be worth her weight in attitude about his public display of affection when it came to Julia Rawsone. She'd of course been hot off the heels of her encounter with Lonnie and found it difficult to adjust to Hadrian having control again. The good doctor lounged in his chair as he tried his best not to criticize the show before him too much as it had mostly been for the sole purpose of background noise while his daughters chatted openly with their friends. Lauren Marino seemed to take to Jessica pretty well as if they had known each other for years instead of recently meeting in college in their Art Studies class. She seemed to be a decent girl with a good head on her shoulders the kind a parent could only dream would influence theirs into being their absolute best.

"Jessie tells me you're something of an artist yourself," said Lauren turning her attention to Hadrian making it clear she wasn't at all that interested in the show.

Hadrian smirked a bit.

"I used to dabble now and again back in my day or when I had free time," replied Hadrian reflecting on how much he'd neglected his former hobby. "These days I don't draw much."

"But you could if you wanted to?" asked Lauren with an arched brow.

Hadrian nodded.

"I suppose I could still sketch something if I wanted to yes," he said.

Lauren treated him to a warm smile.

Jessica was positively beaming.

"See I told you my Dad is cool," she remarked to her friend.

"My Dad won't touch art aside from buying it to sell it off." said Lauren with a sigh, " He sells art for profit."

"So he's an art dealer," said Hadrian with an arched brow.

Lauren seemed to be a bit uncomfortable with the subject.

"You could say that," she replied before looking a bit sad and turning her attention back to the television.

"You get your artistic talents from your mother I take it?" said Hadrian making conversation.

"That and the blonde hair is about all I can say I got from her," replied Lauren a bit bitterly.

Hadrian had been of the mind that Lauren didn't seem too fond of her mother. The shrink in him had sensed that there was more to the story and he'd been tempted to press for more details but decided against it.

He noted the obvious dismissal of her mother's contributions to her existence and turned his attention back to the television show. Boring as it was, it was better than the relative awkwardness of the silence between him and four college-age girls, one of whom had been his unofficial mistress and carrying his unborn child.
