Sitting atop the Heaven Viewing Tower, I recited the True Thunder Scripture. "Thunder falls at the Call of the Heavens, Shaking the Earth and Sundering Man...Only through Thunder can one reign supreme....."
It had been a few days now of constant practice, everyday I meditated atop the tower day by day I felt closer to forming a Heaven Unity. And then it happened.
As I recited the True Thunder Scripture, a golden light shined on my body and an image of a boy looking up towards the Heavens was formed before being imprinted on my back. I could feel this process in its entirety, this was Unity Seeking.
"I-I did it!" I was beyond excited, finally I had formed a Unity, sure it had only been a short 4 days but it still felt like a long time. Not to mention it was only the very very first step of cultivation so it was quite the achievement.
Before I could even begin to think about my next steps my father appeared in front of me. Funnily enough it seemed as though he was even more excited than I was. He grabbed me from under my shoulders before throwing me lightly into the air.
"YOU DID IT LI'ER! YOU'RE A GENIUS!!!" He shouted in excitement before continuing to throw me into the air. "Lets go tell your mother, we're having a special dinner today!" My father declared before flying off the tower with me in his arms.
"SLOW DOWN, SLOW DOWN!" I screamed in fear, this man was flying at a speed I couldn't even comprehend and he didn't even bother to warn me. "Ahem my bad." He muttered slowing down his speed.
We then made it home and after informing my mother we ate a nice dinner. "By the way Li'er we have something to tell you." Out of nowhere my mother spoke up looking me in the eye.
"I am going to be away for a few years so if you need anything ask the maids or your father." She said before getting out of her seat and hugging me. 'Away? Don't tell me this is that higher Clan trope.' I thought as my mother kissed me on my forehead.
"Really where? Why are you going, can you not go?" I replied, I did care for my new mother and also I didn't want the current situation to destabilize in some unforeseen way.
"Don't worry Li'er she'll be fine its nothing dangerous." My father said from his seat. Looking at him he didn't seem all that worried which assured me that it was nothing bad.
'If she was being taken away or something of the like he'd be up in arms instantly, so if he's calm as he said it shouldn't be dangerous.' I thought, my mother still tightly hugging me. The rest of the dinner was then spent with my mother hugging me as I tried to eat my food to no avail.
"Bye mom." I waved good bye as my mother left my room after putting me to bed. From what they told me she was now going to leave to wherever she had to go. 'Its only a few years, in a family of cultivators that's like a few months or weeks its nothing serious.' With that thought I drifted off into sleep.
----
The next day I woke up ready as ever to begin my meditation, but before I could even head to the tower my father burst into the room. "Now that you've formed your Heaven Unity, while it may only be a Unity Seeking its time for you to learn the Clan's Body Refinement technique!"
Hearing this I was surprised. 'What does a Body Refinement technique have to do with the Heaven Unity.' I wondered, before the man dragged me out of my room and to a training field.
The training field was massive, being filled with all kinds of contraptions, from dummies to boulders of various sizes, an arena, and 3 odd pillars that stood erect in a specific corner of field. 'Why is it empty?' I thought but before I could even voice my concerns my father spoke up.
"This is the 9th Training Field, it was just finished a month ago and is the place everyone from your generation of the Clan will be training. Including you, your cousins, and the children from the Subsidiary Branches." He explained before pausing momentarily.
"And you're the oldest of your generation. Your cousin Lei Feng will begin training here in a month or two so until then you have free reign." My father continued with a smile on his face. 'It seems he's pretty happy I am the oldest. Maybe its cause he was the youngest of his generation.'
"So dad, what's the technique? Also why did I need a Heaven Unity to start using it?" I questioned reaching out my hand. Seeing this my father understood I wanted the manual and took it out, of what I assumed was his spatial ring, before handing it to me.
Grabbing the manual I immediately read its name before flitting through it. "Tribulation Thunder Body?" Muttering out the technique name, it had a very cliche name, but to my father it must have sounded like praise as he began boasting.
"Mhm that right this is our Lei Clan's Body Refinement Technique and its the 9th strongest Body Refinement Technique in the Continent. The mere mention of its name incites fear across the 5 Domains!"
Realising he'd gone a bit overboard he recollected himself before explaining the technique properly.
"This is one of 3 books that allows our Clan to be as strong as it is, provided to all those with the Lei Clan's bloodline be they Main Branch or Subsidiary. Not only does it help us form a strong body but in some instances actually promotes our bloodline. Which is why for example we have purple hair but your mother doesn't.
And just between you and me, the technique doesn't need a Heaven Unity to start practicing but your mother wanted to wait a few years before you started training it, because its.....lets say less than pleasant."
Finishing his basic explanation he then went into greater detail on what exercises were most beneficial, how to tell if I trained enough and some his own experiences during his first year training the technique.
"Anyway, you can always ask me if you have any other questions but that's the basics for now. Once you're done training your body make sure to meditate on the True Thunder Scripture, its vital that you at least reach Heaven and Man before you're 6 years old so work hard on it.
He then disappeared in an instant leaving me in the training grounds alone. 'He sure does have a habit of making big entrances and then disappearing in a flash.'
