The first quest (2)
Ash went to the west side of the district in the barony where there is entrance to the sewers. The entrance is guarded by a guard. When Ash approached the sewers the guard stopped him saying "Halt! No one is supposed to entered the sewers except the adventurers".
Ash showed the violet tag hanging on his neck to the guard. "So finally someone has taken a quest to clean those abominations in the sewer" said the guard with a sigh. "Why didn't adventures take this quest?" asked Ash with curiosity.
"Well you should know the money provided is not sufficient for high level adventurers. But those adventurers with violet tag go inside and get killed by those leeches" said the guard.
"Sorry but can I know your name?" asked Ash. "My name is Henry" replied the guard. "The sounds coming from there has driven away many guards during nights and some of the leeches also came out a week ago which were taken care by the high level guards" replied Henry.
"My name is Ash and I am going to take care of the issue" said Ash. "But are you capable enough to slay 20 gigantic leeches in there?" asked Henry.
"You should be around 12 or 13 so I am warning you to be careful. It may look like a violet ranked quest for adventurers but I would put it at Indigo level" said Henry.
Ash furrowed his brows and asked "Then why did the guild increase it to Indigo rank even after all this time?"
"Well the leeches over there are not hard to kill but as soon as they sense common threat they swarm and attack all at once" said the guard.
"So I am advising you to not make the mistake of provoking them" said Henry. Ash nodded and entered the dungeon when the gate opened.
There are platforms all over the place and there are pipelines pouring all the waste into the sewer from all the districts. A powerful pungent smell hit Ash as soon as he entered the sewer. It nearly made him lose his consciousness.
"AAH, I am beginning to think that leeches are not the problem but the smell coming from here" shouted Ash. After waiting for 2 minutes and getting his bearings right he started walking deep into the sewers.
The smell kept on increasing and showed no sign of decreasing. "The barony definitely needs a sewage treatment plant" said Ash to himself.
He reached an intersection where the path is split into left and right. Ash opened the map and saw 10 dots on the left end and 10 dots on the right end by zooming and adjusting the map.
He decided to take turns killing all of the leeches. He remembered the warning of the guard of not to provoke them all. He opened the stats window and decided to make a plan before fighting them.

He can use the spells to kill them but fire bolt spell is still not that much powerful. The wind cutter spell would be highly helpful here. He closed the status window and opened the inventory where there is alchemist fire which he himself brewed. He decided to lure the swarm into a trap and kill the remaining afterwards.
When he looked to the left it is a narrow passageway with no other openings and he had confirmed it in the map. He had 20 vials of alchemist fire. He only took out 6 vials and tied each one of them on both sides of the passage at regular distances. He also did the same at the right side of the intersection.
Now he made his way to the end where all the leeches were concentrated. All the leeches were nearly 9 feet tall and were looking disgusting. They were roaming all over themselves which was unsightly for Ash. Ash did not waste any time and immediately used the ice wave spell to freeze them. 3 of the leeches froze on spot and remaining got alerted and swarmed towards Ash.
All of them started spewing acid on to Ash. Ash did not have appraisal skill so he could not see their powers and abilities. Some of the acid hit Ash but he was unscathed due to Acid immunity. They started attacking him physically with their heads. Since the passage was narrow it was difficult for Ash to jump. He knew that he cannot wait here so he began running.
The leeches also gave a chase to kill Ash. They were crawling much faster than snakes. Ash approached the first set of vials tied by a strap which he specifically made for himself. As soon as he passed the first set he waited for the leeches to come. As soon as the leeches reached the vials he used wind cutter on the vials and the vials exploded with fire.
The body of the leeches were filled with fire. 2 of them could not take the burns and died burning. The remaining gave chase even when their body is filled with fire. As soon as he passed the second set of vials he used the electric arcs on one hand and wind cutter on other hand . The wind cutter destroyed the vials while the electric arcs hit 2 of the incoming leeches electrocuting them.
"KEEEEEEEEE" shouted the leeches with agony and despair. 3 leeches died due to repetitive burning in fire. The remaining 3 have become immune to the fair. The fire disappeared and they released their "rage" and started chasing Ash again. Ash did not expect it to happen and was a little surprised. He also used the third set of vials but it was of no use.
He decided to got at the last three of them with spear rather than any spells. The 3 leeches surrounded him and were gigantic. "They must be the elders" though Ash by observing the touch scales and their immunity to fire. He took out the spear and attacked by thrusting it on one of the leeches. The leech waved its head and hit Ash. Ash received a blow and got thrown away.
As soon as he got up the other two attacked him by using their face but Ash dodged the blow by jumping away. The 3 started attacking physically all at a time and in between spewed acid on Ash. He tried to look for an opening but those three attacked too quickly so he used the wind cutter and hit the three leeches which sliced the skin of three of them which led them to bleed.
"KEEEEEE" shouted the leeches and came towards Ash violently. Ash smiled and used the wall to make a jump on one of the leeches head. He used the spear and thrusted the spear into the leeches head. The blood splashed from the leech and it died on spot. Ash jumped away before it fell down. Seeing this remaining leeches started throwing venom without any stop. The acid immunity kept on protecting Ash.
After 5 minutes of time wasting by spewing acid they were out of acid. "So are the two of you done? because now it is my turn" said Ash and sued to spear to pierce into the throat section of one of the leech. The blood splashed all over Ash and it died shouting "KEEEEEEE".
The other one became afraid and started to run away but Ash gave a chase and used the ice wave to freeze the back end of the leech. The leech got stuck over here and waved violently to break from the ice but could not do it. Ash did not feel drained even after using spells after sometime. When he tried to use mana to cast spells the system warned him that there can be a clash of mana and the energies inside his body which would make the magic erratic so Ash gave up on using mana.
He went to the struggling leech and used the spear to cut down its head.. He went back to the left end and saw the frozen leeches. He used the wind cutter on them and the leeches broke into pieces. As soon as he made it to the end he saw piles of skeletons and weird purple color fluid on the walls. "System can you analyze what is the liquid?" asked Ash.

"Host this liquid is a pheromone mixed with mutagens all over it" said the system. Ash was shocked to hear that. "What the fuck is going on here?" shouted Ash with anger.
"Analyze the blood of the leeches" said Ash with urgency. The system did as he asked and obtained the results.
"Host these leeches have those pheromones and mutagens inside their body" replied the system. "God dammit these are mutated leeches. Someone is definitely experimenting with these leeches with those pheromones and mutagenic liquid" shouted Ash with anger. He also saw skeleton mountain on the corners of the end of left passage.
He made his way to the right side and he used the same tactic to kill them but he did not used the spear. He just used electric arcs all over the place. Those leeches which became immune to fire got electrocuted and died. He just eliminated them without using the spear. He experimented with the spells and used the combinations to kill all of them. Even here he saw mountain of skeletons and bones. He heard the sound in his head of quest completion. He got 100 experience for every leech he killed. He just put notifications in silent.

After killing all of them he immediately made his way back to the guild. Even Henry was shocked and flustered to see Ash running towards the guild. He understood that the quest was successful after Ash told him and hurried away.
As soon as Ash reached the guild and came to the reception he said "I have completed the extermination of leeches" said Ash. She nodded and gave him 20000 gold after he presented the acknowledgement paper from Henry.
He immediately made way to Quinn and Rose in baroness's house. Quinn greeted him and asked "How was your first quest?"
Ash said "It is good. But I definitely need to talk to your grandmother as it is urgent" said Ash. Seeing the urgency in Ash's eyes Quinn nodded and took him to baroness's room.
He came to the baroness's house after cleaning himself and putting on new clothes. "Welcome Ash" said Amanda with a smile.
"Good day Madam" bowed Ash with courtesy and said "I need to inform something urgently".
The baroness nodded and said "Tell me". He explained how his quest turned out and how someone used a liquid to transform those leeches. Amanda's eyes widened after hearing this explanation.
She stood up immediately and shouted "You mean someone is performing illegal experiments on these creatures".
"Yes I was able to confirm the contents and tried to find the records of the liquid but I could not find anything" lied Ash as he cannot say that system analyzed it.
Quinn and Rose were outside the door and heard all the conversation. Ash could sense them but kept quiet. "I'll inform the guards about this and start a thorough search for the person behind this. This is a danger that had been hidden in the shadows until now. I believe there is something dangerous happening away from our eyes which could affect the barony" said Amanda with a serious tone.
"You must also find for any missing people because he might be experimenting on them now" suggested Ash. Amanda nodded and started making preparations. As soon as Ash came out he saw both Quinn and Rose a bit far away acting as if they had not listened.
"You two can drop the act. I know you have been listening on our conversation" said Ash. They both sighed and asked "There is some deranged person experimenting on chemicals. Is it true?" asked Rose.
Ash said "Yes, if we do not find out who it is the people will definitely suffer" and went back to his house leaving Quinn and Rose with worry.
