Capturing the culprit (2)

The operation has began after Ash completely explained his plan of capturing Orion. The knights positioned themselves in the forest in a crossbow formation behind the trees. Morgan and his group of knights directly launched an attack on the hideout.

When the underdogs of Orion saw Morgan and his knights approaching one of them rang the bell to alert all of them. Even Orion heard the alarm from underground and came up in the house. "What is happening?" shouted Orion.

"Boss the knights have caught our scent, we must leave now" said one of his lackeys. "Damn those Hammerwald knights. This is the second time they have interfered with me. I've had enough of them, release the monsters" said Orion.

"But boss what about our agreement with dukes and earl".

"Do you think that is important now?"

The guy said "Understood" and went to one of the walls and opened the wooden covering where there is a lever. He pulled it and ran inside the lab along with his boss.

The released monsters came out and ran outside. Due to heavy starvation by Orion's lackeys they are in mood of fierce hunting. So they did not care who is in front of them, they just wanted food.

There were Dark Wolves, Chimeras, Manticores among the monsters along with low level monsters like Horned Rabbits, Kobolds and Goblins.

Since the knights have already scouted their hideout using spies they prepared for this. When the knights saw the monsters they could see red eyes and black miasma all over them.

Morgan lifted his right hand with fist clenched indicating them to get ready. The monsters turned their attention to Morgan and his knights. They ran towards him with intense hunger and bloodthirst.

When they were 7 feet away Morgan opened his fist and hundreds of fire arrows descended on the monsters.

Ash knew that normal arrows won't work on those monsters so there is only one way. The corruption needs to be burnt down so the cleansing can only be done by fire. But Chimeras and Manticores are immune to them so he prepared another plan for them.

The other monsters are burnt alive by the arrows. The arrows did not stop pouring on the monsters.

The Chimeras and Manticores now attacked everyone. Many knights could not bear the brunt of their attacks and died.

Morgan was worried as they both are very difficult creatures to deal with. The Chimeras and Manticores threw fire, used the spikes and scorpion tales to some knights.

Morgan shouted after seeing his knights die "Now ".

Suddenly knights came riding the elephants. The elephants are the weakness of Manticores according to ancient things Ash has studied on earth and this world too. As for Chimeras they are immune to fire, bleeding and poison.

So the only thing that can affect Chimeras body is acid. "Release the crossbow" shouted Morgan. He told the arrow in the crossbow formation to take action against Chimeras. They are the Cavalry riding on the horses with glass jars of acid and spears.

They started throwing the acid on the Chimeras especially on the goat portion which is weak. Though some of them missed, but they had large stock of acid on them.

The skin of the Chimeras started melting and they were shouting due to pain. The cavalry attacked directly and used the spears to kill the Chimeras by targeting the goat portion.

Orion came out with his lackey and saw his own men killed by monsters. When he looked through the window he saw his monsters being slaughtered. "No, No, No" trembled Orion.

"My experiments are being destroyed" Orion shouted and hit the wall beside the window. "We must leave at once boss" said his lackey. Orion was angry but could only agree with him but when they turned they both got hit by an unknown hands and they both fell out of the hideout.

When they woke up and saw who it is, Ash and the siblings were standing with weapons in their hands. "Who are you? How dare you step in my way?" shouted Orion.

Quinn stepped forward with a Great sword and said " Quinn Hammerwald". The word brought a shiver down their spines. Rose then took a step forward with dual shot swords and said "I am his step sister Rose Forester".

"HA..HAAHHAHA" started laughing Orion. The siblings were surprised and even his lackey is surprised by his laugh and sudden change in behavior.

He laughed for few seconds and said "Perfect it is high time that I stop holding back". He looked at his lackey and put his hand on lackey's throat and twisted it violently.

The lackey died without any resistance. Ash narrowed his eyes and immediately opened his status window.

"System perform a lucky draw" said Ash. He could sense something different about Orion.

Orion closed his eyes and even the surroundings became dark.

Orion's body is undergoing a transformation. His hair turned black and his body became grey. The nails became larger and his height increased up to 12 feet. The teeth became sharper and ears became sharper.

When the transformation is done he opened his eyes and the eyes were dark with red pupils.

Quinn and Rose took a step back due to his transformation and oppressive aura.

"The lucky draw has been completed. The host is awarded with Energy shield skill"

"Activate it on me and also put it on Quinn and Rose" said Ash.

"Got it host" said the system and put the barrier on both Quinn and Rose.

As soon as he did that Orion smiled and released an dark energy explosion. The impact was so strong that everything became stagnant for few seconds. Quinn and Rose fell down but Ash could withstand the attack.

"A Rifted huh" said Ash. Orion looked at Ash with surprise and asked "How did you..."

" I have studied a fairy tail book on you people when I was at Earl's household. Though I felt something strange about it at that time I did not put too much thought into it. Now I understand that the people of that era told about you guys through a fairy tail" said Ash.

Quinn and Rose were stunned by Ash's words. "Well done. We did come to this world through a dimensional rift to this world 10000 years ago to occupy this land and extract the resources. At that time millions of people died to our invasion but nearly 50 years later those cursed Great mages and Great Warriors appeared. They completely obliterated out kind with their superiors spells and warriors with their superior weapons" said Orion.

"I am the only surviving member of our race in this world who went into hibernation after defeat inside the underground bunkers we created. When I came out I saw the completely changed world and the magic has become weak over the time. So I changed my appearance and made plans secretly to start my domination again but they failed again and again even now".

"Now I don't even care as I will slaughter you all and this barony before I die" said Orion.

"Quinn and Rose stood up with their weapons and assumed their stance. Ash stopped them by raising his hand and asked "A rifted only has dark energy so they can only use dark magic and are not capable of any other magic. So the world you come from is definitely a dark place isn't it?"

Orion chuckled and said "You are sharp and what you said is true. Only darkness exist in our world but we need resources to survive so we invaded other world for getting resources".

Orion waved his hand and said 'Enough of this banter about me and my world. Let's fight and end this".

Orion looked at Ash and the siblings. He could sense something weird about Ash and couldn't put a finger on it.
