Entry 9: Thief [1]

It has been a week since Tama learned how to control his flames. Now that a huge burden of my house being burned has been lifted from my shoulders...I can finally take a long DESERVED break...and go do some productive work

By the way the situation regarding my financial problems still hasn't been solved. I still need to think how I can earn money quickly and there has been no signs of Tama either growing or evolving.

Only weird thing that has happened is the blue flame thing was one-time only and Tama hasn't managed to breathe it again yet.

And so I returned my focus to run my clinic. I started getting more clients as of lately. Some came to get a certain herb, some came to sell things while some came with their magical beasts like the one-horned snake, beast bird Kale which is one of the most difficult beasts to tame,etc. These past few days have been busy and I am not complaining. In fact I could argue things were going a little toooo well.....

That night, I had a really strange feeling. I woke up at the middle of the night thinking someone was running around the streets

'Now who's running around the streets in the middle of the night?'

I checked my side and thankfully Tama was still sleeping...I still went downstairs to grab myself a cup of water and then go back to sleep.

I went down and grabbed myself some water.

Drinking water, I was somewhat curious what was the sound I heard and so I went outside to check it out but found nothing.

Assuming I was just hearing things, I went inside and go back to sleep....

I woke up after a long sleep and opened my windows. But something was strange....all the people in our town were running everywhere, asking questions in a hurry and searching for things..

'Did something happened?' I decided to go downstairs and was shocked to see what was in front of me....My whole house was a mess...it seemed like a tornado came to my house last night and made my whole clinic a mess.

I quickly went upstairs and saw Tama was still sleeping. I checked him if he had any injuries but he had none.

Yeah, I closed my door last night when I went to sleep...it couldn't be Tama because no way he can open the door, go outside and return here while closing the door..

Wait, doesn't that mean.....I quickly hurried downstairs and saw that my main door lock was broken...

Somebody broke into my house!!!

I panicked and went outside my house only to see everyone was panicking and in a hurry as well...

I asked a kid what had happened and why was everyone in a hurry

The kid answered that someone broke into their houses and stole some things and money from their house!!

I again went to my house and checked my counter where my clinic is....ofcourse it was broken...I lost my hard earned 2000 Gouls!!!

I wanted to cry....Haah I was so frustrated!!

If I get to know who broke into my house and stole my money... heavens may forgive him but I won't!!!

And so I went outside again to find out what else had happened and all of a sudden I crashed with someone...I have never seen that man before..he had blonde hair and seemed he was around his 30s as well..he had a well built straight face but his eyes were small.

"Oh I am sorry!" He apologized to me

"No I am sorry" I apologized too and got up and started moving. I had no time to entertain a conversation right now

"Ah! Mister! why is the town in a hurry?"

I had to be quick, "It seems that someone has broke into our house last night and stole some of our goods! So everyone is in a panic." I added "If you need something, we have to apologize because we are in no condition to do anything now!"

"Oh don't worry about it." He reassured "I saw everyone going to the town hall and was wondering what had happened?"

So they all went to town hall huh!

"Oh town hall huh! Thanks for telling me, that saves some time." "If you need anything you can come to town hall too!"

"Oh no! I am fine! I will be sitting in a restaurant anyways so please go ahead without me!" he smiled while saying it

"Alright then." and so I hurried to the town hall.

And so I reached the town hall. The town hall lied at the north of the town, just few steps ahead of the central plaza. The hall was certainly busy..It was 3 storeys tall and had a huge clock in the middle of the hall. It was made of yellow concrete while the roof was made of Salazar wood...one of the hardest wood in the world only to be found in other countries.

Just as I entered it, I was greeted with full chaos. There were arguments everywhere, people were running around, making notes, arguing with each other while few people trying to stop few fights breaking out..

For heaven's sake what did the thief stole that caused such a chaos....

And then I suddenly heard a clap sound "Alright everyone let's calm down!"

It was our town head Mr. Caprion Kent. He was an old man in his 50s and has been the village elder for more than 25 years. He had grey hair and grey beard and wore white clothes with everyone respecting him. He was getting old which was shown by some freckles forming around his face.

"But Mr. Kent..." someone interjected

"Silence!!" and he quieted down...yeah he had a lot of charisma to lead the town as well. Nobody dared to go against him for whatever reason. Not saying he was cruel...he was very kind and will help anyone and everyone but if you are against him...even heavens might not save you....

"Alright everyone let's calm down now! Panicking here wouldn't solve anything. Now I want a report of everything that has been stolen. So let's all sit down and co-operate with each other." With just a few words, everyone went quiet....

"Alicia..I want you to create a list of everything that's been stolen. You can ask other for help too. Krish, I want you to call all the others to the town hall whose goods have been stolen. I want this work to happen quickly! Now go!!"

"Sir!Yes Sir!" and so Alicia and the young man named Krish stood up and started doing their jobs they were given....

After 2 hours everyone was settled in the town hall.

The list was very big it seemed.

"Hmm so it seems almost every house in the south and west has been hit while only few houses from north and east have been spared."

"So if the thief returns tonight then he will come to rob the north and east section of our houses?" someone asked..

"IF the thief decides to attack tonight, then yes."

But can we even assume the thief will even return if he stole so much already.

"But can all of us assume that the thief will return tonight?" It was Frisa who asked the question this time

"Yeah we can't guarantee that!" it was Aunt Lisa who answered it.

"Then how can we even catch the thief if we don't even know if he will return or not?" Perhaps he is already out of the town as we speak!!"

Then everyone started murmuring after this

Yeah there was a point...what if the thief already ran away....

"I don't think the thief ran away from here!" It was Frisa who said it.

everyone went silent....

"And what makes you think that Miss Frisa?" Mr. Kent interjected

"Because it isn't possible to carry so many things alone in the middle of the night. Even if he used magic he shouldn't be able to wander off that far away! So I assume he is still in this town."

Wait now that I think about it...how did anyone even managed to rob so many houses without anyone waking up...even carrying the goods might be difficult for a person alone

What if..."What if, there are more than one people in this crime!" and everyone went silent...

Oops did I say it out loud?

"Wait Mr. Gale, you might be correct!" Frisa broke that long silence

"Yeah it makes much more sense if two or three people are also in this robbery!"

"But why didn't anyone wake up if there were two or three people outside?"

"Actually I did hear some things outside but I assumed it was just some beast running around and went to sleep." A young man with long black hair said it.

What!! Him too??

"Oh yeah now that you mention it, I heard some noises too and went to check it out too! But nothing was outside when I went to check" This time it was a young girl with short blue hair who said it

"Then was the robbery happening right under our noises?!"

This changes some things and the hall went into chaos again

Mr. Kent seemed to be in a deep thought and then finally said something,

"Alright everyone so starting tonight! We will be having patrolling around the streets! If anyone notices anything out of ordinary! You have to report it to me first! Got it?"

"We will have 10 people tonight to patrol at night. I will send someone to give you a call if you are chosen. So let's hurry to our shops and be dismissed!!"

And so the session was over without us reaching anywhere

So all we had to do was wait now? What if the thief already ran away when we were at meeting? With all these thoughts I head back to my clinic...

When I reached my clinic, there was a strange bag outside my house...

Curious, I decided to open it and what I found was....some logbooks, medals, some utensils and....a flower pot?

Wait these were mine. Weren't these the things that got stolen last night? I was still missing my money, herbs and some more utensils

What's going on here!?!? Why is the thief returning some of our stuff?

Does that mean the thief or thieves are still around this town?
