This morning the young lost man untangled himself surprisingly well from his blanket. Rising shirtless in the air conditioned room, six feet and twenty years old, left his bed as one leaves old shoes.
He went to the washroom by pulling on the door handle that was at a corner of the room. He sighed and brushed his teeth.
Despite being thin and under weight, he looked nice with his clothes on. If you are observant enough you might perceive the outline of a few muscles, remnants of an ancient past when he used to work out and eat healthy.
However, these days, his motivation was running out.
His skin was pale, and he had dark circles under his eyes.
He worked daily on his computer and tablet, preparing for his pre-medical test. He had completed his High school and was waiting for the entrance exam which was going to allow him enjoy living a life of a doctor.
Mugging and cramming notes, attempting mini tests, and watching endless hours of lectures online, he hadn't been able to get out of this state since he passed from his High school. He had been in this state for almost a year. His messy and pattern-less life was never clear. He didn't even have a girlfriend or even a normal friend.
There was only Ankush from primary school, whom he could call a friend. The reason for this was that they had always gone to the same schools since primary school. Ankush , however, wrote All India pre-medical test and was accepted on his first attempt.
Kabir choubey brushed his messy hair to one side and got out of his white - themed washroom, getting dressed in a white t-shirt and trousers ,sat on his study table and looked at the computer in front of him. He had forgotten it on at night. There was still a video playing on computer. A bald man teaching mole concept of chemistry. Kabir was spending his days with these kinds of videos these days. In the past few months, he had learned everything from the Structure of atoms to the Structure of tissue. But despite all this he could not compete with other aspirants as he hadn't taken his High school studies seriously.
His phone rang. He drifted from his study and reached for his old model phone on the sofa next to his bed.
He picked up the phone. The screen flashed the name of the caller.
It was Ankush. He answered the call with a swipe of his finger.
"hello Ankush! What's up?"
" Good, Kabir. How are you?"
" I just woke up.Preparing for the entrance."
"Oh, I see. " he paused and continued, " You remember my girlfriend? "
"Megha? right!?"
"Yes. Her dad runs a private medical college"
"so what?"
"if you wish you can join there."
" But that's private . I can't afford it's fee."
" Listen Kabir, Megha has a sister. Her name is Riya. We can arrange a date, let's you and Riya together."
"Nice sounding idea, but I have to anyway study to secure a seat "
" Forget the entrance bro. you secure her and She will secure your seat directly in their college, even without a fee. It's a good opportunity, grab it. What do you think?"
" Sorry, bro, I don't want anything from anybody. Thank you."
" Then starve forever like those lakhs of unemployed dumb asses in India." Ankush disconnected the call.
Kabir sat silent on the sofa helplessly.
