A Story's End

That beam of light was just a small fraction of the power Herman spends when fighting the Starbode Bao. But it's all that he needs.

Power is surging into his body, allowing him to exert the last but strongest burst of light he could ever unleash. Even himself is surprised that he's capable of this. The rope glows intensely as it receives his power. Then the Starbode Bao cries as if it's the last it could let out. That might be true as the harpoons receive the greatest power they have ever wielded. They bury further deep into the whale, messing up its insides, destroying its organs, tearing its veins, breaking its bones, and finally, one of them reaches its brain.

Its cry comes to a halt. With it, Captain Herman's soul is already at peace. He's not glowing anymore. His ethereal arms are gone as well as the giant rope. He lost it all.

For the glow was his wrath he vowed that would only die down if his sole adversary dies first.
