Just friends

"Lyan Lyan, is that person trustworthy? It is unlikely that he treats you well right away?"

On the school holiday, Saung Hnin paid a visit to him. When he told him about Maw Oo Yan, she didn't believe it at first. Maw Oo Yan was a person who had both intelligence and arrogance. Only a small number of wealthy individuals become his buddies. It's doubtful that Maw Oo even initiated to interact with him.

"I was also surprised by how quickly everything happened, but he was generous. He assisted me that day until I got to pick a club I liked."

Because of Maw Oo Yan that day, he eventually joined the bread-making club after walking around the campus once. He enjoys both creating a new menu and cooking. He discovered his interest in cooking while working in his mother's coffee shop every time he got time.

"But, Lyan Lyan, you are the one who likes him. What if it is just that he wants to play with you?"

"He won't even consider using me as a prop. Will he engage in play with someone like me?"

What he said was the truth. Maw Oo Yan did not manipulate or cause harm to people who liked him. Moreover, he was not a player. Thus, she was relieved that her friend was not in trouble.

"But you are priceless for me, and if I can't find someone else I like, I'll marry you."

"Never in a million year! You are a monkey that I can't control."

"Lyan Oo Nway, you're a jerk. I still have to say that I'll be the one to defend you. Keep that in mind, boy."

"Stop it, Saung. I'm too scared of you. Lol."

Lyan Oo Nway's arm was slapped by her as she pursed her lips. She loved him very much. Lyan Oo Nway had a positive outlook and was understanding. All her flaws are put up with by him. She therefore didn't want him to be hurt.

"Oh! Saung is here. Are you doing well in class?"

When Lyan Oo Nway's father noticed her when he descended from the second floor, he greeted her. The father of Lyan Oo Nway, Myint Thu, had a genial and composed appearance. Lyan Oo Nway had a paler complexion and a more maternal appearance compared to his father.

"I'm doing well. How are you, Uncle and Aunty?"

"Very Well, dear. Make yourself at home. If no one picks you up, I'll send you back."

"Alright, uncle. I am going to return home after I tried Aunty's dishes. Hee hee."

When Lyan Oo Nway heard what she said, he covered his face with a teddy bear he was hugging and whispered to her.

"Since when are you starving? You came over to my house for a free meal."

Afterward, she mockingly displayed her tongue.

"When you came to my house, it was you who constantly asked my mom to cook something for you. Now you told me that. What a stingy brat!"

Myint Thu looked at them bickering and grinned at the sight of them. Then, he left them two alone.

"Dears, the meal is ready for you to eat. Come and dig in. Little Lyan, don't forget to take your medicine before eating."

Due to Lyan Oo Nway's poor digestion,he might typically take his medication 30 minutes before eating. He might always wear warm clothing because his body is always exposed to the cold.

Lyan Oo Nway was the spitting image of his mother. Like his mom, he had a pure face, dazzling brown eyes, and narrow, slender white nose, which complemented his pale lips. Along with the canines that flashes every time he laughs, there is also a dark mole under the lip.

Lyan Oo Nway might appear to be an exceptionally lovely lad, but Saung Hnin always claimed that the more you looked at him, the more attractive he was.

"I'm going to the shop. Are you coming?"

"I'll also come along with him after a meal, Aunty."

"Who asked you?"

"Even if no one called me, I'm going to tag along."

As a result of his social anxiety and lack of friends, the only friend Lyan Oo Nway can only joke and converse with was Saung Hnin. His mother grinned as she beheld the cheerful image of her son. She laboured alone on the ice floor when she gave birth to her son, and the newborn developed pneumonia as a result. After that, he had to lead a difficult life once more, but he was no longer a young lad in good health like other kids. She blamed herself, but her son never made any complaint.

"Mom will then go first, and you can come later."

"Yes, Mom. Tell dad to drive carefully."

Lyan Oo Nway had a lot of envy for his parents. They frequently showed each other respect and support. His mother was his first and last love, according to his father. How lovely it would be if he could spend his golden years with his beloved one like his parents.

They went to his mother's small café after eating lunch. Even though his mother's business employs few people, the weekends are consistently busy. His father always had to travel for work.

Saung Hnin, an energetic young lady, put on an apron and began assisting in the business. They appeared to be siblings as a pair. They were cordial and diligent workers. On days she assists at the business, the majority of young people visit and sit there.

When a group of young people entered the shop at that time, Saung Hnin took the menu and proceeded to greet them. Her smile wavered as she recognized a familiar face, but she quickly recovered.

She was contemplating why Maw Oo Yan came to this small shop. His personality fits an individual who would prefer to have coffee at a five-star hotel than in a regular coffee shop.

"What would you like to order, Sir?"

She handed the menu over while managing a slightly stern voice. The three youths who came along with Maw Oo Yan scrutinized her face. However, he didn't look up. Instead, he continued to see the menu.

"Never thought there's beauty in this shop."

Nay Htoo gave her a flirtatious stare. That look bothered Saung Hnin and she detested it. She was well-liked at school but is also a calm, independent young lady. She detested it when boys gave her a flirting expression.

"Give us the best. The most expensive is better, I've never sat in a shop like this before."

Nita wiped the desk with his finger and checked that there was no dust before speaking. Saung Hnin was from a privileged background, but she couldn't stand the people who forget one's origins and developed a haughty attitude.

"I'm sorry you won't be able to eat what we provide at our shop. You can leave without spending any money. The front door is not locked."

"Yes, Nita, you can't say that, lovely women easily get wrinkles on their skin when they're furious. Please don't be mad at me."

Nay Htoo took advantage of her in terms of words as if he attempted to resolve the conflict between Nita Moe and her. She felt nothing but nausea. She stood there with an impatient look by placing her hand at her waist and sighed heavily. As if what was going on didn't concern him, Maw Oo Yan began to order the food he preferred from the menu.

"I'll get a glass of sugar-free cucumber juice and milk pudding."

Maw Oo Yan returned the menu after placing his order. Although he dislikes sweet cuisine, he enjoys milk pudding, which his mother used to make when he was a child. He always eats when he has the opportunity because of this.

Saung Hnin went back to the counter after she had endured until they all made orders.

"Why is your face grumpy?"

Lyan Oo Nway who was preparing a plate of food asked her and she gave an unmotivated response.

"Over there, your Maw Oo is sitting with a bunch of vagrants."

Whenever he heard the name Maw Oo Yan, Lyan Oo Nway's body always felt like an electric current flowed from head to toe. Sometimes, even thinking about how much he loved Maw Oo, he even wanted to laugh at himself.

In fact, he's just a fool who lied to himself that he's satisfied unless he had a chance to see him.

"I.. Do I look bad?"

Lyan Oo Nway fixed his loose hair a little neatly and looked like an excited young man. Saung Hnin immediately changed and began to shake her head, sighing at the boy who was losing his self-confidence. For Lyan Oo Nway, Maw Oo Yan is a man who can exert great influence.

"Are they also your friends?"

"Yes, they are friendly and nice. Why do you ask?"

"I just don't like them. They seem to have bad manners. Don't let yourself get close to them."

He smiled and pinched her cheek as she was worried and protective.

"I know. You are a worried wart. Just like my mom."

Saung Hnin made an effort to calm down as Lyan Oo Nway departed in the direction towards Maw Oo Yan.

"This is what you ordered."

As he set a couple bread bowls on the table, Lyan Oo Nway spoke. He lowered his head when Maw Oo Yan raised his head. He was still reluctant to look Mao in the eyes.

"Oh, it's you, Lyan Oo Nway. Do you work here?"

He asked with his chin supported by his hand on the table and a trace of mockery in his voice, but Lyan Oo Nway only lightly responded.

"Since it's my mother's business, I'm working here over the weekend."

"Oh, then who was that beauty earlier? Is she your girlfriend?"

Nay Htoo treated him like a suspect. But he responded back without giving it a second thought.

"I don't have a girlfriend. She is my childhood friend."

"At the very least, introduce me,"

While keeping an eye on Lyan Oo Nway's expression, Maw Oo Yan was simply listening to what they were saying. It was challenging for Lyan Oo Nway to change the topic of discussion.

"But she won't like it. I'll go get your juice. Wait for a moment."

Lyan Oo Nway walked away after saying that, but he sensed that Maw Oo yan was still focusing on him. He sensed a tingle of happiness flowing through his veins with the beat of his heart.

"Little Lyan, Drinks are ready. Mommy has to go out for a while. Make sure to watch the shop. Okay?

"Yes Mom"

After he heard his mother's voice, he came back to reality and took drinks and went to Maw Oo's table.

"Here are your drinks."

Maw Oo grabbed his hand after he put down all the drinks on the table. He was surprised at first but he calmed down when he saw Maw Oo's smile and it could make him gazed at him.

"Why don't you take a seat with us? I found this shop was yours. So I bring them to see you"

Maw Oo had an attractive voice like a magnet and Lyan Oo Nway could not stand back. So he took a seat beside him. He didn't free his hand and was still holding it below the table. He even could feel the warmth on his palm.

Did Maw Oo treat everyone in this way? When he thought about that he suddenly felt uncomfortable. But he felt shy more because he was still holding him.

"Milk pudding is delicious. Can you make this too? I heard you like to make dessert."

Maw Oo not only treated him nicely but also talked to him well lately.

"I've learned it from my mom before. But I just had a chance to try once."

"Make it for me. I wanna taste the milk pudding you make."

He looked like a hunter who was trying to comfort a deer which was caught in his trap. Nay Htoo smirked at them and said.

"Maw Oo, you now look like someone who is begging for his love."

He seemed to bore to look back at Nay Htoo and he stared only at Lyan Oo Nway.

"Is that so? How can I know when I don't have a chance to love yet?"

Lyan Oo Nway tried his best to understand their conversation. But he thought Maw Oo Yan treated him so well.

"Lyan Lyan, can you come and help me?"

When he heard Saung Hnin, he immediately took his hand back from Maw Oo's grab and stood up. As his mother was not there, he had to look after the shop.

"Then excuse me. Just call me when you need something"

After that, he rushed to the kitchen before the other party could hear his throbbing.

At the table, Maw Oo wiped his hand and his smile disappeared in a second.

"You are good at this. Do you see his blush? He is such a gay."

"He is so into him, Ha Ha. This way, you don't even need to make a move."

Nita and Thu Rain said in laugh but Maw Oo didn't change much in his expression. He saw Lyan Oo's mother left. He was now sure that the woman his father was seeing recently was her.

"Where are you heading?"

When Nay Htoo asked him when he saw he moved from his chair. Maw Oo showed his cigarette box and went outside. When he reached the parking lot he looked around. Lyan Oo Nway's mother was talking to the man at the secluded place. He didn't have to rack his brain about who the man who she was talking to was. He already knew him. He was familiar with his silhouette and height. It was his father, President Maw Soe. He didn't want to wait more to hear what they were chatting about. The smirk on his face was getting distinct. When he was grown up, he found out that his father was not good at hiding anymore.
