Chapter 11

"Good morning, Mee Mee. Did you take your medicine in the morning?"

"I do."

Shin Min Myat was nodding as if she didn't do anything wrong yesterday.

"Alright. Your Gran and Grandpa are gonna visit you today. So you should take a nap before they come."

"Sure."

Dun had nothing to worry about as she was in a good mood. After he took a round, he got back to his office and took a short rest.

Aunt Mya said that the boy didn't prepare breakfast this morning before he came to the hospital. And till he came out of his bedroom, Nobel Lin hadn't woken up. He noticed that Nobel Lin was surprisingly quiet since he was hit by the girl. He had to make a phone call as he couldn't leave it there. Even if it's not as Dun Nay Kha, as a psychiatrist, he had to admit that he was worried about Nobel Lin.

Ring…Ring…Ring

"Aunt, is Nobel Lin okay?"

Dun first asked Nobel's condition as soon as the other side picked up the call.

"Son, your brother has cooped up in the room. We told him to come out of it but it was futile."

"His room key is inside my room. You can take it and open his room. Then, please report the situation back to me."

He thought it was a good idea to have a spare key for the boy's room in case something urgent came up.

"Dun, let's go get lunch."

When Saw Yatu invited him for lunch, he also followed him. Consciously, he also brought his phone together with him. He was in a queue when he received a call.

"Dun, little Noh Noh was acting abnormal. Can you come quickly if it's possible?"

Aunt Mya sounded tired and he also detected her nasal voice as if she's holding her tears back. His guess was right, after all. He was aware that the boy was a little different since yesterday.

"Okay, aunt. I'll be back right away. Just please coax him as much as possible during this time."

He hang up the call and turned round to Saw Yatu,

"Novel Lin was home, being out of control. I must go now. Please relay a word to the head that I will take leave for the evening."

"Definitely. Call me when you need something."

He darted off to the car park without even taking off duty coat. Then, he drove home without delay.

Crunch

No sooner he got home than a broken glass was directed near his leg. At the top of the stairs, Nobel Lin was ready to run down and uncle Naung secured him. Dun could see that aunt Mya was coaxing the boy.

"Nobel Lin, calm down. What's wrong with you?"

Dun gnashed his teeth while talking and went upstairs. Only when it was certain the boy was not struggling, Dun asked uncle Naung to let go of the boy. Nobel Lin used to throw things away and run out when he was out of his mind. As soon as Nobel Lin found a chance to escape while Dun was talking, he rushed to the door. But Dun was standing in the middle of the stairs and thus, he was ready to catch the boy who was running straight to Dun. Nobel Lin avoided Dun but Dun grabbed his wrist in a hurry and lifted from his legs and carried him on his shoulders.

"Don't move."

Dun carrying the boy on his shoulders headed to the boy's room upstairs. He put the boy down on the bed and locked the door. After that, he blocked the door. Nobel Lin got up from the bed and tried to push Dun's body by force. Dun stood rooted on the spot.

Dun observed the boy's chest was shaking due to fatigue. His eyes seemed to look for something. And his sight stopped at a certain place. Then, he dashed to that place. Dun followed him without hesitation. The place the boy headed to was the door to the balcony.

"Nobel Lin, calm down! Look at me! I told you to look at me."

Dun turned him around by grabbing his shoulders and stared into the boy's eyes. His pupils were shaky and were intentionally avoiding Dun's gaze. The boy looked like he wanted to be free from something. Is he sensitive with the sounds? Dun was not okay to use direct methods with treating the boy as he didn't study anything about him. So he racked his brain to come up with a way to control him.

Dun covered the boy's ears and he came to look at him. Then he pushed Dun. Nobel Lin responded slowly to the sounds. Then, what might it be to get his fast reaction? After Dun brainstormed the case, he pulled Nobel Lin close to his chest and covered his ears by using arms.

Dun himself was panting as exhaustion hit him. Nobel Lin was still struggling in his embrace. It's highly unlikely to ask him how he was feeling right now. He hugged the boy more tightly than before. The more the boy struggled, the more tightly he hugged the boy. He attempted to get out of his hug for quite a while. Later, he calmed down. Dun also cooled down himself and totally sat down on the floor while hugging the boy. It's fortunate that his method worked this time.

"All is well. It's fine. You are a good boy. Slowly, try to breathe in."

Dun was rubbing the boy's back and saying in a low voice. Dun exhaled a long hot air when he felt that the boy was breathing normally.

"That's it. You are awesome. Nobel Lin is a clever boy. Close your eyes for a moment. And inhale normally."

Dun wheedled the boy and looked around the room. On the messy floor, he discovered the medicine Nobel Lin used to take had fallen near them. He picked it up. After that, he pulled the boy out of his hug and the boy almost fell backwards so Dun instantly pulled towards him.

"Hey, Nobel Lin."

Dun shook Nobel Lin a bit and the boy didn't move. He seemed to fall asleep fast. Only then, Dun felt the burden was lifted off his chest. He carried the boy to the bed and settled him carefully.

The boy was currently sleeping so taking medicine was impossible. Hence, Dun planned to give a shot and got out of the room. He met with the sight of two people, aunt Mya and uncle Naung, who looked tremendously worried about the boy.

"He's asleep. I will give him a shot. Could you prepare a chicken soup to eat when he wakes up? And one thing, please clean his messy room. He might get stressed if he sees the mess."

"Alright. I will make sure to clean up."

"Okay."

When Dun was inside his own room, he lied down on the bed carelessly. He looked at his hand and he felt stuffy. Throughout his life, he stayed by the patients and treated them. This was the first time he didn't know what to do; he was lost. His previous patients had the medical records. There was someone who could inform him the patient developed trauma due to past events or congenital. However, Novel Lin's case was different. No one knew about him. Dun's parents told him only they took the boy from the orphanage and they were not interested in Nobel Lin's past nor investigated him.

Dun diagnosed the boy's condition based on his first appearance. If the disease was congenital, then he would be a disabled person who is mute and deaf. Because he didn't understand feelings and didn't communicate with people. That made the boy unable to respond to sounds and unable to talk. Furthermore, this kind of disease can be found in only mentally impaired people. However, Nobel Lin didn't match with those possibilities.

He was an outstanding artist. Plus, he could speak three languages. So he must not be an intellectually disabled person. It's rocket science since he was not disabled. For now, there's only one possibility. It must be something related to the past. But he's just four years old so he's quite young at that time. If someone asked about Dun's childhood, he had no answer as he didn't remember anything from childhood. It's really difficult to find a way to cure Nobel Lin. He heaved a long sigh.

After that, he gave an injection to the boy and continued staying by his side. It's peaceful and tranquil to see a white soft sleeping face. When he was gazing at the boy's face, he was thinking Novel was a person full of puzzles he couldn't solve. At first, he planned to leave the boy as he was okay. But after today's incident, he had to search for a way to cure the boy. Nonetheless, Nobel Lin was also a mental patient.
