THE PRETTIEST HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT

"WHY ARE you rejecting me already, Yujinie?"

"Because I don't want to lead you on," Yujin said, then she crossed her arms over her chest. "Wookie, to be honest, I'm confused these days. I want to be nice to you because I feel bad for you. But I'm afraid that my actions are giving you false hopes."

"No, you're not," Wook said bluntly. "I know that Yujinie is naturally kind, so I know that taking care of me doesn't mean you love me. I'm just glad that you're not pushing me away anymore."

[It's because I have an ulterior motive.]

Her chest was now heavy with guilt. She just hoped that Wook didn't notice that. After all, she didn't want him to react violently.

[Not that I think he'd be aggressive.]

She had only spent a few days with Wook. But even though he had the tendency to use violence if he felt threatened, she had a feeling that he wouldn't hurt her.

[I don't know where my confidence is coming from, but I know that he won't hurt me.]
