The Heart of the Problem

Wouldn't be cool to live the life of more than just one character? I do use to have the same thinking. But now when I'm surrounded by millions of people, realising that it is not that simple. It all started when I met Steve,tall, good-looking and having shiny golden hair .His eyes was as deep as the ocean, all blue, twinkling in the moon light. While I was observing him, he spoke up "Is this your purse? "Yeah,yeah. Thankyou" I replied hesitatingly I was going home after an interview in a call centre and it had been quite late. I didn't noticed my purse being dropped. I turned around and started walking towards the pavement. The road leading to my house is often deserted. While walking I felt as if some one was following me. I turned around to check my gut feeling. To my surprise it was the same guy whom I met a minute ago.

"What are you doing here?"

"My house is here." he replied

"But...I never saw you?"

"Yeah we have shifted recently. I guess you too live here. Right?"he said

"Yeah"

"So if you don't mind we can go together. "

"Okay, but just to return your favour ."It was kind of cold in those days. Anyways we talked all the way to our home and got to know a little about each other. His name was Steve and they had shifted from Germany. There he used to work as a librarian but now has joined a nearby call centre company. It was the MDL call centre,from where I was coming after giving the interview. When we reached home there another coincident that happened was of him being our neighbour. I asked my mom about it after he went inside "Mom,why didn't you informed me about their arrival." "I had came to inform you about them but you were the one who sent me back." She answered me, standing at the door,realizing my fault, I tried to change the topic;

"Okay, let's leave all this . I am really hungry. Won't you give me something to eat?"

"Hhhh! Okay come in first and get freshed up. As I entered I threw my bag onto the couch and went straight in to the wash basin. Till then mom set the table. After getting freshed I jumped into the dining table. There was no one sitting there except for me. While I was having dinner my mom told me the thing she heard about them. The new thing I got to know was that they are having a rich background. After dinner while climbing up the stairs to my room a melodious tune was coming from the next door . I tried to look through the window in the turning. I froze there for a minute. He was playing the piano.I was hypnotized by its melody. When I got back to my senses, I tried to ignore him and went upstairs to my room. I don't remember when I fell asleep. Because of thirst I woke in the middle of the night. When I was about to asleep a notification in my mobile. When I checked it I got to know that I got selected for the job in the call centre. "Yesss!!"I screamed in excitement and jumped out of my bed. I tried to control my excitement and said to myself "Rose ,tomorrow is the day when you are going to surprise every one. I tried to get into bed and sleep but now it seem to have been disappear somewhere. So, the only thing I could do was to wait until it was dawn. Today the sunrise seemed to be a little different and more pleasant than the other days. Without wasting a second, I went to my parent's room woke them and my my lil bro up and said them to meet me in the hall; by the time I took a bath. They were all waiting for me, but seeing me in a formal dress they were quite shocked because this was not my style at all.

"What is all this Rose?" my mom asked curiously.

"Mom I got a job!"

"That's amazing! "my dad commented "So this would be my princess's first day of her first job."

"Dad,I'm a grown up now"

All this conversation continued as my mom went in to the kitchen to make my favourite dish. This made my day. After having the breakfast, my brother got my bag and I was off for the day. But the which made me confused the most was my feeling whether of joy or nervousness. Keeping it aside, when I was about to leave when Steve came in my sight. His mother who was standing with saw us. She greeted us and introduced herself and him , when he interrupted saying that we already. Dad was much more shocked than mom when his mom asked

"From when?"

"From yesterday aunty. We met in our way."

"So that is why you both were together last night?" my mom asked

"Yes aunty". This time it was him who replied.

"Oh!!"

His mom then suggested that why don't we go together. She knew that I got a job in MDL call centre because Steve had told her about it. But how did he got to know about this? My mom answered this before me.

"Why not?Certainly"

I didn't wanted to go with him. But now I will have to. Steve was also smirking from the side. I jumped into his bike and we were off. Today there was no talk between both of us. In the middle of our way a dog was crossing. To save him he he put the brakes immediately because of which I fell over him. I quickly got up but still we were really close to each other. I asked him about it. He told me that it was because of the cold night that the engine got cold. He tried to accelerate it many times and at last succeeded. Thank God! I didn't wanted to be late on my first day. Finally we reached our destination. I quickly got off thanked him for the ride and went inside the company. It was very big. Going inside the thing which attracted me the most was two set of staircase which was in the opposite side of each other and met at the same point. On top of my head was the roof of the building which was made of glass which was shining in the sun and reflecting beautiful rainbow colours. It was my pleasure to work in such a beautiful place like this. A staff crossing by asked my name . I replied

"Rose"

"Mam,you need to come with me in the office." he said politely and took me to the manager. He was tall, well-dressed, had shining black hair and seemed to have a bold personality. He told me each and every thing that I needed to know as a fresher, introduced me to one and all present there and told me that if I needed any help I could ask from the co- worker sitting right next to me. Saying all this he left. I got prepared for my first call. After a while the phone rang. It made me quite nervous cause for an introvert it was difficult to talk to a stranger and that also have to convince them for something. But the first call made me quite relieved. Still it took me a while to get adjusted there. I was also not good at making friends. So I was just doing my work without any conversation with anyone. For my surprise, a girl approached me and introduced herself.

"Hi!Myself Natasha. I am a fresher here and you can even call me Nicki. Do you want to be my first friend."

Though I was a hard nut to crack I too needed a companion so I agreed and introduced myself

"Hello Nicki! Myself Rose and it would be my pleasure to be your friend."

After we were introduced to each other he asked me for my hand tied a band on it .

"What's this,Nicki?"

"It's a friendship band ."

The name itself told it's meaning. While we were gossiping she saw our manager taking round and walked away after saying to meet me after the work hours.

Outside the campus:

"Where is she?"

"I'm here"

"Nicki!!!You gave me a heart attack.Where were you?"

"Planning to see your scared face. But now planning to have something."

"You mean you're hungry."

Of course,baby

"Hey Nicki ,if you want to eat with me just don't call me that."

"Fine!!"

We went to a nearby restaurant and had our dinner there .My phone rang. It was mom. I told that I already had dinner with a colluege

so not to worry for me. After dropping her I walked to my home. When I reached there I saw all of them gathered at the living hall and were having a wonderful quality time with each other. Steve and his family was also there. I too joined them and had a lots of talk that night.
