"Divine flames" Damien roared as his sword lit up with black flames before he shot it towards a tree in the distance, ominous black fire consumed the tree leaving nothing but ash.
Y-you actually did it" Nyrer said genuinely surprised at its own words, after 2 days of practice Damien had executed the first form of the ' The Divine Flames of Black Death'.
Oh shit– oh fuck I think I'm gonna die" Damien said panting and huffing as he grabbed his chest and spoke between deep breaths.
Quit being over dramatic... you sound like a fish on land." Nyrer said to Damien with a telepathical equivalent of an eye roll as he grabbed his chest gasping for air.
I have been learning this same move for over 2 days now and you think my breathing is excessive." Damien asked.
Firstly, that isn't breathing that's a cow in the sea struggling to keep its head above water and secondly you spent over half these past 2 days sleeping with your ass facing the sky with drool leaking out your mouth"
"I- I wasn't sleeping, I was trying to comprehend the skill." Damien said in his defence. Normally, Damien would had never slaved himself away practicing some black fire crap skill, he'd rather count the sands on a beach. But he didn't have any other option, the system knew him well and it knew how to punish him well, 3 days ago he woke up to a system prompt.
–SYSTEM UPDATE
>> Azraels quest– return the favour of death has been updated.
-Targets have wandered pass your area of proximity.
-You have 72 hours to find out why, and progress to end them accordingly.
-Failure to do so, 2 days in Death's heart.
"Nyrer, what exactly is this Death's heart?" Damien said counting his words as he gulped.
"It's a type of torture were you are kept in an endless abyss unable to see, move and sleep, your mind still sharp and active feeling every passing second as your worse nightmares replay themselves over and over again."
The thought of all the pigs Damien had killed rising from the dead to seek revenge on him, 'The aporkolipse' he called it left him and his stomach quaking.
Damien stared at the prompt message before him, as tears rolled of his eyes and his face turned pale as his mouth quivered threatening to release his soft cries.
"Why did they leave this area? Those fucking cunts never leave this area unless they ran away from home" Damien thought as he wondered about the many ways he would make them pay for such a strenuous addition to his already mountainous task.
"I am yet to kill the bear and I already have to play detective, fuck me crooked." He thought to himself.
Damien needed the exp. so he could have more fun with the boys when they meet up for their reunion, failing wasn't an option do he decided to train the offensive skill that wouldn't leave one of his hands mutilated.
"Divine Flames"
Divine flames was only the first form out of 6 forms in the 'The Divine Flames of Black Death', he had inherited and tweaked from Darius Sander's will, he had actually unlocked the second, 'Burning Body', but when he tried it only smoke left his body.
The training took longer than expected, unlike Divine slash that need only but a thought to activate, Divine Flames only gave him the map to the treasure not the treasure itself, hence the 'relentless' training.
Now that Damien had comprehended the skill it was time to find the bear and take it out.
Nyrer can you sense the bear's location from here?' Damien said to Nyrer.
After his most recent level up, Damien had found out that Nyrer also had the possibility of growing more powerful.
Since helping Damien return from the dead, Nyrer had lost most of its actual memories and powers, but after Damiens most recent level up, Nyrer had gained 'soul sense and dimensional pocket', the former allowed it to be able to sense soul signature from about 15km and the latter allowed it to be able store things in a pocket dimension with a space of up to 7 by 7 feet
"No, you'll have to move further into the forest, I'll leave soul sense on while we run" Nyrer replied.
The unnatural sound of silence this deep in the forest gave the area surrounding Damien an ominous vibe, he lurked atop a tree branch, one of his hands floating above the hilt of his sword, his eyes darting from left to right as he awaited his mark.
H-he's here" Nyrer said.
Suddenly a huge presence was felt all over Damien's surrounding, making it hard for him to breathe properly, he looked downwards to meet a pair of glowing purple eyes matching the stripes of purple all over the black fur of the Titan bear, it had grown by a head and all its injuries were practically nonexistent.
The bear starred back at Damien and he could have sworn he saw it smirk, the surprise on Damien's face could barely be suppressed, the bear had increased by a whole rank from mid F to mid E, the difference might look insignificant, but that was far from the truth, the difference between ranks E and F is like a lion and a hyena, the hyena is dangerous but it stood no chance against the lion.
Although Damien himself had not been spending all his time idling, he could still feel the pressure the Titan bear was releasing and it was terrifying.
With a deafening roar the bear struck the tree Damien was on with the force of a charging bull, shattering the trunk on impact, seeing the tree he was on, aiming for the ground, Damien quickly hopped to the next tree branch trying to get some distance between him and the bear, knowing a direct hit from the bear could end him.
He moved quickly, hopping from tree to tree the bear following closely behind him tearing down whatever stood in its part. Before long, Damien found what he was looking for, a small clearing with a few trees here and there, a perfect and advantageous field.
He jumped down turning quickly to face the bear heading for him, his hand hovering above the hilt of his sword waiting for its target.
He didn't wait long before the bear came crashing through, large tree shards flew in all directions, dust and debris lingered a few feet off the ground before settling.
The bear strode from left to right, its eyes fixed on Damien's unmoving body that was staring daggers at the bear, they remained like that for a good moment before the bear lunged forward, faster than when Damien had seen it move the last time they fought.
Not wanting to see his body separated from his head Damien pulled out his sword getting into a defensive pose, ready to receive the bears blow.
BANG!!!
The sound of the collision shook the ground below them, causing small cracks to appear on the ground, the bear expecting the human to have split in half, and looked around him for the blood and innards of the human so it could feast on it, much to its surprise, the human was still in one piece seemingly unharmed.
"I guess this is what having 9 in my strength stats. feels like." Damien thought
Taking advantage of the bear's confusion, Damien circled around the bear, using his Faith infused blade to strike the bears left arm.
Unfortunately the bear regained its senses early enough to dodge the blade by a hair's breadth and attempt a counter with it's right paw aiming at Damien's head.
Damien who had never expected the strike to land in the first place raised the sword to his face to defend against the bear's strike, another powerful sound resounded in the surrounding, Damien could feel his arms going numb from the impact.
Using the force from the blow, both the bear and Damien seprated themselves from each other, the first exchange had ended in a draw.
Both Damien and the bear used the brief rest to analyse their opponent based on the last exchange, still not having a proper gauge of each other's strengths, Damien and the bear bolted towards themselves.
The bear elongated his already sharp and protruding front claws making them over 7 cm long making them look like daggers.
"Now my only edge is gone." Damien said staring at the dagger like claws aiming for his head.
You sure do like my head, do you think it's really pretty or what?" Damien smirked raising his sword in time to block the deadly blow, not wanting to be put on his back foot, Damien countered with a side slash aiming for the bear's torso, he was met instead with a 7cm long claw, the bear followed up with a strike of its own leading to exchange of blades and claws.
SHANK !!! CLANK!!! SHING!!!
The sound of metal bashing metal filled the air, after images of both the bear and Damien were spotted in every direction of at least 4 feet from them.
The wind generated from the exchange blew with so much force the surrounding wildlife had to flee with fear.
"Its blows are getting faster and stronger with every strike. I feel like my hands are going to fall of." Damien thought to himself completely oblivious to the fact that the bear was thinking the exact same thing.
BOOOOM!!!
Both the claws of the bear and the sword in Damien's hand aimed at one place. Damien with an upward slash and the massive claws of the bear, a downwards arch, met at the same level as Damien's head, realizing a deafening sound upon impact, the force knocked both fighters to opposite corners.
BOOOOM!!!
The fighters rose from the ground staring daggers at each other, this time Damien was the only one to move his sword, held firmly on both hands in a forward stab he lunged towards the bear, the bear on the other hand closed its eyes ignoring the speeding Damien.
Damien closed in on the bear having an ominous premonition, he tried to stop and give themselves space but alas he was to late. A gust of wind blew in every direction knocking Damien off his feet, sending him hurtling towards a tree.
He quickly caught himself as he dug his feet and his sword into the ground, he looked up with force looking for the origin of the sudden burst of wind, to his surprise the bear had disappeared from its spot.
"Where did it–."
"Damien quick behind yo–" Nyrer was interrupted by the sudden burst of wind behind them. Damien turned his head like a whip to be met by the speeding claw of the Titan bear aiming for his head, knowing that the blow was impossible to dodge, Damien did a split second analysis on the situation, before he jumped and braced the left part of his body.
BRACK!!!
The sound of cracking bones resounded in the air as Damien was flung like a rag doll towards a tree, another sound of cracking and a gut wrenching scream filled the air as Damien rested on the tree unmoving.
