10am 2 days until the big Day
I woke up early to do the chores, but as usual, someone had already taken care of them. With nothing else to do, I headed outside to clean the cars.
Joyce was unusually nice to me this morning. She greeted me with a smile and even asked if I wanted something to eat. Since everyone was rarely home at the same time, I usually ate my meals in the living room. But today was different.
For some reason, everyone was gathered at the dining table. So I had to join.
That alone was enough to raise eyebrows. Faith and Abby exchanged confused glances, barely hiding their surprise. Esther, on the other hand, didn't seem to care, but my uncle noticed the shift in tone.
"What's been going on since I was gone?" he asked, eyeing me over his cup of coffee.
I nearly choked on my food.
"Uh... Nothing really," I replied, forcing a casual tone.
He raised an eyebrow, unconvinced. "Is that so?"
