Side Story (28)

Cassandra was seated limply on the floor. The tears that stained her cheeks had dried, and her eyes had no tears to pour out anymore. Her eyes were hazy, and her mind was empty. She was blankly staring at the wall of the library, unaware of how much time had passed.

Clack. Clack.

Even the sounds of footsteps approaching her direction did not faze her, as if all her energy was drained from watching the fountain show its answers to her. She merely waited until the shadow that looms in the corner showed its appearance.

It was the first highest priest, showing concern in his golden eyes as soon as he appeared, looking down at the weary child slumped beside the fountain. Her appearance was ragged, eyes swollen, and hair disheveled, with a face devoid of any emotion.

First Highest Priest Yunis knelt beside her, "Why did you come back? I let it slide before because it was your first offense, but you still came here. What happened?"
