Chapter FOURTEEN

  OVERLORDS AND UNDERDOGS

  (EARLIER THAT DAY)

“What's wrong? Why do you look so sad?” Steph asked Becca who was gloomy. She shook and head and smiled at Steph to assure her she was fine but Steph knew her too well.

She gazed at Becca's face as if studying it for more signs of sadness. Becca look away feeling awkward but she knew Steph wouldn't rest until she got the answers she wanted.

“I just feel bad for the girl, I mean Amanda.” Becca sighed, fiddling with her fingers.

“I get that but then you don't need to look so downcast. I'm sure she'll be fine.” Steph placed her hands on Becca's shoulder; a reassuring gesture but it didn't make her feel better. She remained moody.

The events of earlier kept replaying in her subconscious mind. She found it sad that no one stood up for the girl, not even her.

But that was the way it had always been in Hilton High, if you didn't stand up for yourself no one would.
