Jordan almost started to believe that she was frozen in time when she suddenly blinked and spoke, “I don't deserve this.” Her voice was hoarse and only a smidgen away from being a whisper.
“What?” Jordan muttered and she seemed to snap out of her trance when she shook her head and looked away.
“I don't deserve any of this,” her voice was louder now.
“Gem, what are you saying?” Jordan frowned upon her words, taking a step towards her, but halted when Emerald suddenly shouted and took two steps away from him.
“No! Don't come close to me, Jordan.” He froze.
“Gem–”
“No, I mean it, Jordan. Don't come close.” Tears were starting to fill her eyes to the brim. “I don't deserve this. I don't deserve any of this,” she kept repeating like a broken vinyl.
“Gem, what the hell are you saying? Stop that,” he tried to take a step towards her but she shouted again and held up her hands.
