CHAPTER 44

  Paisley

“Who was at the door” I ask Ewan as he came back in.

“No one important. Are you hungry You rough” he asks.

“I could eat, and yes, a little rough. Thanks for last night.” I smile.

I was surprised by him last night. Nothing happened between us. I tried because I was drunk, but he turned me down, which is something that I am now glad of. He just listened to me talk, rant and cry. He slept in bed with me, but we only cuddled, something that I needed. It reminded me of how sweet and protective he can be when it comes to me. It was strange because we were acting like friends, rather than exes. I don’t need any extra drama right now.

“Okay, how about I make breakfast You make coffee” he suggests.

I nod, and we head to my kitchen. He raids my fridge and found some bacon and eggs.

  “Scrambled or fried” he asks.

  “Fried, please,”

“Sure thing. How are you doing this morning”

“Tired, confused, but I will be okay in time,” I shrug.
