A Completely Different Direction 8

"I could have confronted her, I could have confronted—and yet I didn't." Lukas said to himself when he left the hallway and navigated to the given room to him.

There was an itch, a burning sensation to just go ahead and lay down everything and point a finger in Heloise's face.

But things were a little complicated.

"I wish it was as clear cut as that giant sand worm. You just go and stab it with a dagger and be done with it," Lukas said as he finally reached the room.

Even though everything was dark and pitch black, no candles to light his way, it hadn't actually bothered Lukas—even appreciated it in his own way.

All of Lukas muttering and mumbling finally came to an end when he saw Chaerin asleep in the bed. Out of everything that happened today, she was asleep and clueless of it all.

Should he have been upset that she didn't know? That she hadn't gone come looking for him and probably believed Heloise when she said that he was going to be gone for days?

Maybe.
