CHAPTER 37: MY HEALING ONLY WORKS ON THE LIVING.

CHAPTER 37: MY HEALING ONLY WORKS ON THE LIVING.

Forneius' eyes shot open. He laid with his face up on a large bench. His eyes focused on the window. The blur in his eyes slowly faded away and his eyes eventually caught Celeste with her hands on her waist. She looked like she wanted some form of explanation from him.

'Awake are we?' She asked in an angry tone.

'Well a good morning to you too. You don't seem very happy. Did you want me dead?' He smirked.

'Forneius, everyone wants you dead.' She replied with a scoff.

'Did it work?' He asked with a straight face.

'Of course it didn't!' She yelled in anger. Forneius had no idea what was wrong with this woman. Why the hell was she so furious? And why didn't his treatment work?

'Why? Because you brought this upon yourself Forneius! What have you done to yourself?' Celeste hated the confused look in his eyes. He didn't have to pretend.

'Are you insinuating that I caused myself to be ill and then come all the way to the Sana to see you?' He paused and then began to laugh.

'You might be prettier than some of my mistresses, but your beauty certainly wouldn't make me act stupid.' He continued.

'You!....' Celeste spoke through her teeth.

'Forneius…' she sighed to calm herself down.

'…my healing does not work on you.' She continued.

'Is this your way of saying you are incompetent?' He asked coldly.

'No, this is my way of saying my healing only works on the living.'

'Places everyone! Places!' Joanne ordered all her actors. It was time for the long awaited play.

'We can't find Michael.' Her assistant, Yasmine grumbled.

'What do you mean you "can't find Mike?" She mimicked Yasmine mockingly.

'Has anyone seen him today?' Joanne asked while anxiously drinking warm coffee. The entire crew responded negatively by simply shaking her heads.

'And now, the climax of this special event 'The Sound of Music' play by our very own final year students directed by Joanne Kendricks.' The announcer stated and the crowd applauded cheerfully in their seats. Meghan peeped from the curtains,

'ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!' Joanne squeezed the coffee cup in her hands. She was freaking out. They were up and the main male character was nowhere to be found. The temperature of where she stood suddenly grew so hot.

'I'm a failure,' she muttered to herself.

'We should look for a quick replacement?' The assistant director suggested shivering. Meghan couldn't get why she was so afraid of Joanne. She found it a bit amusing.

'He's probably on his way. I've texted him.' She assured everyone.

'Yes and by the time he gets here, every single person in the audience would be laughing at the Drama Club.' She continued to lament.

'Can you please stop that? You're freaking everyone out!' Meghan and pretty much everyone else had had enough of her fuss.

'You're so obnoxious!' She yelled at Meghan.

'No, I'm so tired of your bullsh*t and how you treat us.' Meghan simply, crossing her arms.

'Sorry I'm late guys.' Mike said panting, stealing everyone's attention.

'Mike you're here finally!'

'Are you crazy?'

'Where were you man?'

'What took you so long?

Mike was welcomed with series of questions.

'There was bad traffic from the hospital to here.' He explained hugging Meghan.

'Oh please.' Meghan rolled her eyes.[AI1]

'Doesn't matter. We're up! Get into your costume!!!!!!!!' Yasmine instructed.

'Mike isn't in the first scene, I can stall until he's ready.' Meghan proposed.

'Great!' Yasmine nodded.

'I'll introduce the play. Lights!' Yasmine walked out to the stage.

'That's my job!' Joanne ran after her.

'That's my…' She was saying before she realized she was embarrassing herself on the stage. She stopped when she met the confused gazes of the audience. She told a few steps back, smiled, waved and then bowed.

'What's wrong with her?' She heard the janitor whisper to the History teacher, before she ran out.

'T…Thank you all for coming.' Yasmine stuttered with the mic below her jaw.

'The Drama Club presents a classic, the Sound of Music.' She smiled and was replied with a soft applause.

Meanwhile Mike was tying the laces of his boots in the dressing room.

'I'm set.' He said as he stood from the chair to look at the mirror.

'Joanne!' He said surprised when he saw Joanne's reflection on the side of the mirror.

'I'll be out in a minute. Jeez! You startled m…' He was saying when she slammed the door.

'Wha…Joanne?' He called as he ran towards the door but got no response.

'Jo…Joanne! Joanne?' Mike panicked when he tried to open the door but it wouldn't budge.

Sh*t!

'Can anyone hear me? I'm locked in here!' He shouted for help.

'Michael is that you?' Mike heard his father say from the other side of the door.

'Dad?'

'Michael the door's locked.' Mr Onan tried to open the door.

'I know. Do you see a key anywhere, on the floor maybe?' Mike asked in frustration with his hands on the back of his head.

'No, I don't see a key anywhere!' Mr Onan yelled searching the floor.

'You know what, I'll go get the janitor.' He said and ran down the hall.

Mike was pacing from side to side. What the hell was Joanne's problem?

'Sabotaging a play she made us work our a*ses off for!' Mike said angrily. His were eyebrows raised the second he heard the sound of the locks opening.

'Hurry on out. I'm on break.' The janitor said as he pushed the door open.

'Thank you sir.' Mike sighed in relief.

'Dad. How'd you know I was here?' He wondered.

'Magic' Mr Onan smiled.

'Huh?' Mike felt his heart skip a beat.

'Magic?' Mike thought in disbelief.

'Ha ha. You should see your face right now.' Mr Onan laughed.

'I wanted to wish you good luck,' he patted his son's back.

'Oh… thanks. '

'Yeah, you should probably hurry. Everyone's waiting.' Mr Onan reminded him.

'Yeah. Thanks again.' Mike said as he hurriedly walked away.

'My dad? A witch? I need to calm down.' Mike jeered his own thoughts as he hurried to the other actors.
