CHAPTER 43: JUST A STORY

CHAPTER 43: JUST A STORY

Lord Forneius studied his son while the other men left. Serious as usual.

'You don't look happy to see me.' He smirked cleverly.

'We both live in the manor.' Damien replied. He wasn't going to bother himself with wherever this conversation was heading to. He knew his father had multiple ways of getting what he wanted. It was wiser to be patient, listen and evaluate.

'Where's Uziel?' He asked seemingly unbothered.

'I didn't come here to talk about my staff.'

'It's time for you to get married to your betrothed. The elders and I think she has come of age.' He added, not easing into the topic.

'The elders?' Damien thought. He knew the elders to be… frightened. They feared a legend spirit that seemed only to be popular in brothel discussions and jokes.

'I'm sure the elders have better things to worry about father like the Archenemy I suppose.' Damien looked at his empty cup.

'Why don't you believe in the spirit? You never liked the story. Some legends are true.' Forneius took a seat.

'You said it yourself, it's just a story.

'A legend that has been told by pathfinders for decades.' Lord Forneius cut in.

'It's going to take more than lines of an illusory story to make me as delusional as you and the elders.' Damien replied, still calm.

Forneius was silent. He stared at his stubborn son. This son of his truly knew how to get on his nerve! Celeste calling him unreasonable and now goes his son calling him delusional. He calmed himself don with an inaudible sigh.

'You're getting married soon so, be prepared. You're a Young Master, so, there are going to be festivities involved.' Forneius said firmly before vaporizing out.

'OMG!! You're play's trending on the school blog!' A group of students surrounded Ashley, Meghan, Sadie, Mike, Brett, Bryan and Yasmine.

'How were you able to make the flowers change from pink to blue? Now, that was amazing!'

'I have no idea how props did that.' Yasmine said still surprised by how great the play went.

'Actually…' Meghan looked at Mike while the others waited for the 'comeback'.

'It was me.' Mike blurted.

'Really? How'd you do that?' Yasmine asked, the students waiting impatiently while recording with their phones.

'I'm sorry I can't say. It's a prop secret.' Mike faked a serious look.

'My hands are tied.' He said to the disappointed faces.

'Well… whatever it was, it was amazing. I'm a fan of musicals now.' Jonathan nodded.

'Heck! We all are! They said, full of excitement.
