"I've been waiting for half an hour."
She'd been waiting for half an hour. Lisa was standing by the camper with an unlit cigarette held between her fingers. She seems less… empty today, but not the better; she exactly has the looks of someone who didn't blink once through the night. Her fingers seemed like shaking too; why is that she always looks like either shaking or awfully stiff? She took out her phone before checking the clock again.
"Half an hour. Gimme your lighter."
"No smoking when you're with Aurora."
"Do you take it for granted that I'll come with you?"
"Isn't that why you're here?"
"...I…I came for the lighter. But since I've nowhere else to go, I might as well come with you…"
Aurora coyly tugged at my sleeves to call me out. I'd forgotten about that.
"Is she scared of me?"
"Aurora, this girl—the voice you heard is Lisa's. She'd like to come with us—"
"I'm just out of options."
"Yeah… Do you mind her coming with us?" Aurora shook her head.
"…Nice to meet you, Lisa."
She stared at Aurora for a bit, most likely curious about her eyes that wouldn't meet hers.
"She's blind… ain't she?"
"…Almost," Aurora replied.
Lisa threw her unlit cigarette away and it blended with the sunlight-beaten-up concrete. At once, she turned her back at us before getting in the car. So I grabbed Aurora to put her next to the other passenger. I settled our luggage in the rear with the food I stole and before I knew it, the engine was roaring and Lisa was next to me and Aurora was next to her.
