Bethany didn't give him space for a breather as she continue attacking him without stopping.
Owen seeing as she have swung the sword too quickly and knowing that he wouldn't be able to block it in time, he quickly roll over as he dodge it and pick the sheath of her sword she have throw away.
The moment he stood up, he could see the knife coming towards him, he quickly raise the sheath to block it in time, before kicking the knife out of her hand.
Seeing as the sword was flung from her hand, he swung his sword which she block with hers. He didn't let the opportunity slipped away as he quickly use the sheath to hit the sword out of her hand, making her defenseless.
Before she could bend down to pick her sword, she could see Owen had already point the sword towards her, making him the winner.
"You did good sis, but you clearly are no match for me" said Owen as he start laughing.
"You were lucky" replied Beatrice as she walked over to their mom.
"You can't possibly be calling two times lucky, just admit you weren't strong enough" said Owen as he follow right beside her.
"You both did good, Owen you were lucky to be able to feel something the moment she brought out her knife, make sure to be always mindful of your opponent" said Bethany as they approached her. "Beatrice you did good by always keeping something beside you to protect yourself against your opponent in times of need".
"Thanks Mom, can I go now, I'm tired" replied Beatrice.
"You will soon rest, just bear till your last match for today" said Bethany as she walked over to the training ground.
Picking their swords, they all prepare themselves to attack at any time.
"Make sure not to hold back when attacking okay?" said Bethany as she unsheathed her sword but not throwing the sheath away. "Begin".
"The moment they received the signal to attack, Beatrice didn't waste time as she quickly sprinted to attack.
"Why do you always like to go first, don't you know what they call teamwork" said Owen as he look at Beatrice who was already half way through the training ground before following behind her.
The moment Beatrice swung her sword, Bethany wage it with her sheath, while now swinging her sword to attack which Beatrice also wage with her sheath, but was pushed back.
The moment she was about falling down, she could feel Owen holding her in place so as to steady her.
"Attack together" said Owen as they both rushed to attack.
As Owen and Beatrice swung their swords together, Bethany quickly raise both her sword and sheath, knowing full well that she won't be able to block the attack if she doesn't raise both. As she block the attack, she could she them now thrusting the sheath forward which hit her, but she didn't feel anything as they didn't put much force.
"It told you guys not to hold back" said Bethany as she use her leg to kick Owen causing him to crash into Beatrice. "Fight like if your life is on the line, don't hold back" said Bethany as she compose herself.
"What have you been eating, why do you have so much weight" said Beatrice as she push Owen from her.
Owen and Beatrice steady themselves as they get ready to attack for the second time.
The moment they got closer to her for the second time, they swung their swords, but this time around she move back so as to dodge it instead of blocking it. They kept on swinging their swords in a fast pace causing Bethany to go further back so as to continue dodging the attack.
Owen and Beatrice have both gotten more than ten chances to land an attack, but each time they would always hesitate as they couldn't being themselves to hit their mom. So they kept throwing attack after attack but making sure that nor of them would be able to touch her.
"Sorry mom" said Owen as he dash to her side and knock the sword out of her hand. The moment the sword fell down from her hand, Beatrice point her sword towards her.
"Good, you both did good, but I'm disappointed, why didn't you guys end the match sooner?" asked Bethany.
"Mom come on, who in his or her right mind would hit their mother?" asked Beatrice as she hug her. "Mom please never tell us to hit you again, okay?" said Beatrice as she started crying.
"I'm sorry dear, don't cry" said Bethany as she console her.
"I'm sure this would be the end of the training, right?" asked Beatrice the moment she finished crying.
"That's the end of swordsmanship, now let's go to hand to hand combat" said Bethany as she gesture for them to keep their swords.
"Come on mom!!, I thought you said this is the last one" said Beatrice.
"Don't worry sweetie, this would be the last one, I promise" said Bethany as she pick her sword and throw it out of the training ground.
"Isn't that what you said the last time" replied Beatrice as she doesn't seem to buy it.
"I said that is the end of swordsmanship, not hand to hand training, and beside I didn't promise last time" said Bethany.
"Stop whining and let's just get this over with, it won't take long" said Owen as he pat his sister head.
"Haven't I told you not to touch my hair" said Beatrice as she throw her leg for a kick, but was dodge.
"Why are your movement so sluggish, even with how close we are, you couldn't land a kick" said Owen after dodging the kick.
"Owen, mind yourself and leave her hair alone, you are not supposed to touch a woman's hair" said Bethany.
"Haven't heard of that, beside she isn't a woman, she's my sister" replied Owen while laughing.
