Going outside the city, Hao is now heading straight toward the nearest dungeon.
'This is going to take quite some time. When I think about it, I will be doing all these four dungeon solos that will take forever. Not to mention, the one that I did before was a level 10 dungeon; this one has the possibility of being a level 20 dungeon or higher. This is going to be absolute pain without any friends.'
'Speaking of friends, I should stop playing after I finish this quest. I have not had any food yet, not to mention a shower. The first thing I do is to start playing the game, so I should take a shower, eat some food and start playing this game again.'
Hao keeps walking toward his first dungeon while also taking in the scenery. Due to the location being near Oscurida, the capital city, the view is more present than in the beginning town, where it is simply dark-red sky forever with nothing more than dead surrounding it.
Here, near Oscurida, the sky is now, instead of the dark-red is now more normal in colour with a proper day-night cycle, but there is still a difference, and that is, night time around Oscurida would last longer while the day time is shorter than usual.
What makes it even worse in the dark faction is that when nighttime comes near Oscurida, it is the time when the high-level enemy would spawn around the area except inside the city, making travel outside the city while dark dangerous. Of course, in the light faction area, these high-level enemies would also be spawned when it was dark, but due to the day-night circle being normal, it became not as bad as the dark faction.
The safe zones or areas you can be in while nighttime is town or city, but also a tiny NPC camp around the map and the entrance of a dungeon or raid.
While nighttime seems to be something players would avoid, it is a double-edged sword. You see, when nightfall, the amount of exp you get from outside the save zone would double, and the loot drop from the world mob would also have a rarity increase, creating a high-risk, high reward system.
It's become something that players have to decide whether they should stay safe inside the city while waiting for the sun to rise or go outside and fight high-level and difficult enemies to get more exp and loots.
It's a simple yet very effective game design.
As for what Hao is worried about, the night would come before he finishes the quest. After all, he is only a solo player whose level is only twenty; being outside a safe area at night is nothing more than a death sentence to him.
'Well, I should log out after clearing the first dungeon because I highly doubt it would not be nighttime the moment I finish the dungeon.' Hao thought
While still making his way toward the nearest dungeon, Hao suddenly feels something pierce his right thigh, causing him to immediately look down and see an arrow sticking out from his right thigh.
[You had been poisoned!]
Hao quickly pulled out the arrow and looked around the area, seeing nothing but trees.
'An ambush, but by who? Is it bandits again? No, bandits AI would never ambush players. They would always come out and give players a choice on what to do. Players? Possible, but who or why would they do it? There is no reward for killing other players yet; that would come after the first expansion. So maybe it's just some shmuck who thinks they can kill other players for fun? But why would they ambush me?'
Before Hao could continue his thought, another arrow came flying toward him; Hao could react and dodge the arrow, but that was not the end. Hao's ground started to glow blue in the shape of a circle, which he quickly noticed.
Hao doesn't waste any time and moves out of the circle, and before he knows it, a rain of arrows starts to fall toward the glowing blue circle.
Hao can only click his tongue in annoyance, not seeing where the enemies are or how many they are. Not to mention that the enemies player class seem to be a ranged DPS class, which puts Hao at a massive disadvantage.
With no skills or items that can be used to locate the enemies, Hao decides that he only has one option: to run away.
So with that decision made, Hao activated Disappear and turned invisible ready to run away. However, to Hao's surprise, more arrows start to fly toward him, but what makes it even worse, even though Hao is invisible, they are aiming right at him.
With his superior agility, Hao could still dodge arrows and quickly hide behind one of the trees while invisible.
'They see me!? How is that-?! No, calm down; let's think about this. Did they already have a ranger class with the skill to give their friends a buff to make me visible? Or maybe they buy Zichtbar?'
Zichtbar is one of the many items you can buy in-game. An item can be used so that the players who used it can see an enemy or player that is invincible for thirty minutes. As for the ranger class, one of the skills that they have is a mass buff that can be used so that people who get buffed can see invisible enemies.
'But those are particular things to have; it's like they prepare to fight a rogue. But if that is the case, then that means...'
Hao's eye narrowed.
'They already make their move? It seems that the leader hates me for refusing him, o maybe it is because I tell him to fuck off? Well, it doesn't matter, really.'
Hao's mind quickly deduces who he and the attacker already has a good guess of who his enemies are.
The Asgard guild.
While he knew that he did declare war on the said guild, Hao did not think they would make a move this quickly, so he didn't expect them at first, but now it's all guaranteed.
'If that is the case, I should just run toward the dungeon and hope for the best.'
Taking a deep breath, Hao quickly starts running toward the dungeon that he was going to; with his invisibility already run out, his body becomes visible, but Hao does not care about that right now.
While Hao is running, more arrows are coming toward him, which Hao can dodge but not all of them.
[You had been poisoned!]
[You had been poisoned!]
'Son of a bitch!' Hao cursed in his mind seeing the notification, but he did not falter and continued running toward his destination.
However, someone appears in his way, blocking his path, and causing Hao to stop in his track.
A man wearing full armour holds a shield in his left hand while his right-hand holds a sword, with him holding his shield forward while holding his sword behind him.
It was one of the tank-class warriors.
But Hao didn't have time to think because more arrows were fired toward him from behind, causing him to dodge the arrows sideways, and before he knew it, Haos started to look around and noticed that a lot of players had surrounded him.
Despite him being surrounded, Hao cannot but smile at the situation.
"You serious? You bring all of these people to kill a single person? Your guild must be really bad at this game if it took this many people to kill me." Hao taunted while looking around his surroundings, trying to find a gap to escape.
"Shut up! You can talk big all you want, but a trash player like you would never defeat us!" One of the players shouted.
"A trash player? Quite rich coming from someone who needs a group of people to ambush a single person." Hao quickly responded with a smirk
"Said whatever you want! But our guild is the best game; it won't even take a second for us to kill you!" One of the players shouted
"That right! I don't know why the guild leader wants you dead, but you better be glad that an amazing guild like us even paid attention to a small fry like you!" Another player shouts out, which quickly leads to more players joining in.
This caused many players to shout out how amazing their guild is, how they will kill Hao quickly or how they thought Hao was a trash player.
Hao, who had been standing there, said nothing with a smirk still on his face and looked around at the players that seemed to trash him.
"Talk about jaded." Hao cannot help but mutter to himself.
Hao claps his hand with a sigh, causing all the players around him to stop talking. While talking, Hao had already figured out that escaping this situation would be impossible. This is why Hao decides to do his best, fight all of them, and hope that he survives and escapes the situation.
After a clap of his hand, Hao starts to look at all the players surrounding him.
"You know, I have enough of all of your voices. So how about this? Why don't all of you shut the fuck up, and let's start killing each other? What do you say, you worthless bunch?" Hao said before with a smile, and without giving them time to respond, Hao rushed forward toward the nearest player.
