Chapter 90

Angel's POV

We walked upstream along the river and found a grassy area. Gabriel pulled me down and we lay on the grass, opening our eyes and seeing stars all around us.

Such a time was calm and happy, and I took my time to appreciate every second.

"I wish I could look at the stars with you like this later." Gabriel said.

"Me, too."

"I never watched the stars when I was a kid, my father wouldn't let me do such a boring thing, he thought it was a waste of time. This is the first time I've looked at the stars in silence like this, and I'm glad it's with you Angel."

There was a momentary stiffness in my movements when Gabriel mentioned his father. But I hid it well enough that Gabriel didn't notice.

I was silent for a few seconds, then decided to ask, "Do you remember the pattern of that mask the witch gave to the others in the Leaf pack?"

"Of course." Gabriel said.
