19 years later.
Fanette gasped and awoke as the sun began to reveal itself slightly with a gasp.
"That dream again..." she whispered.
"Fanette, you had another nightmare?" asked a man.
"Yes," replied Fanette.
"Drink some water," the man handed her a glass of water.
"Why are you here, Adrian?" Fanette asked her husband, Adrian Putra Bagaskara.
The man she married five years ago plots revenge on her father. Adrian is one of the sons of a famous businessman in this country, their family backgrounds are equally respected, and of course, Charles accepts it with pleasure even though he is a widower.
The marriage between Fanette and Adrian is just an agreement. They both have a purpose. Fanette creates a perfect image of daughters and women in front of her father by marrying a handsome, well-established, and intelligent man. While Adrian there are several reasons. First, Adrian was Fanette's childhood friend who had been cared for by Helene lovingly, and Helene's death also left Adrian devastated. That man also knows the secret behind Helene's death because Fanette has a recording of what happened. The second reason, Adrian has a son who was born to a woman named Camilla. And the mother of his son, who was none other than the woman that Adrian loved very much, actually died horribly due to an overdose of drugs given by Milena.
That's right, Milena is Charles' lover. So, you could say, Adrian's relationship with Fanette is really related to each other, and they also have a common enemy. They lead a very peaceful married life, with a son named Galaxy Faye Bagaskara. Adrian's son, whom Fanette considers like her own biological child. Currently, Fanette is 29 years old, 19 years since her mother committed suicide. And soon, Fanette's plan for revenge on her father will succeed. She has put together a lot of things that look perfect and... BOOM! She will destroy it in an instant. Charles's expectations would fall until the old man who was still chomping down had a heart attack and died on the spot.
"Oh, I just wanted to wake you up because it's time for breakfast. But when I entered your room, you were panting and kept mentioning your mother," Adrian explained to Fanette's question.
"Hm.." Fanette just mumbled.
"Daddy, is Mommy awake?" screamed a little boy who was seven years old as he stepped into his mother's room.
"Hey, honey. Mommy's awake," said Fanette with a faint smile.
"Fanette..." Adrian called softly. He sat on Fanette's bed hugging Galaxy, their son.
"Yes, Adrian?"
"You don't need to act that you're fine. Because I know you aren't," Adrian whispered.
Faye chuckled softly, "You know me too well, Adrian."
"Of course. I've known you since you were born, Fanette."
"Galaxy, Mommy seems to need rest and Daddy will accompany Mommy for a while. Can you ask Nanny for help first to get ready for school?" asked Adrian softly.
"Okay, Dad. Please take care of Mommy, okay?"
"Of course." Adrian smiled and kissed the top of his son's head.
"Mommy, I'll get ready and go to school. Mommy rests well at home, okay? Get well soon, Mom. I love you," Galaxy said kissing Fanette's cheek.
"Yes, Honey. Thank you for your attention to Mommy. I love you more, My Galaxy," replied Fanette with a sad smile.
Galaxy stepped out and closed Fanette's bedroom door tightly. There were only two people in there, Adrian and Fanette.
"Thank you for loving Galaxy, Fanette," said Adrian.
"Thank you for what? He's my son too, Adrian," Fanette chuckled.
"I know you are a bit overwhelmed with the role of a mother. You are afraid of being a failed parent, right?" said Adrian slowly.
"I dreamed of the day my Mom waited for Dad at the bedroom door like a fool and until the day she died, Adrian," Fanette said softly.
"I know. Sorry, I can't do much to help you. What did the doctor say yesterday?" asked Adrian.
Fanette has been doing mental treatment since her mother's death without Charles' knowledge with Adrian's help. Why can't Charles know? The reason, of course, is that Fanette must be a 'perfect' figure, there should be no gaps. Even at her mother's funeral, Fanette couldn't cry at all because of Charles' ban.
Imagine, a ten-year-old child should not cry when her mother dies.
"Not much has changed, because from the start I was the one who decided not to forget it for the rest of my life," Fanette muttered.
"Funny, isn't it? My mother vowed to haunt Dad and Milena for the rest of their life. The shadow of the ones who died that day would follow them, but in fact, they were able to live a very, very happy life. And I'm the one being haunted!"
Adrian pulled the woman who was his wife into his warm embrace, he had felt that he couldn't describe for Fanette since childhood until they grew up together. With an age difference of four years, Adrian was 14 years old at the time of Helene's death. And Adrian at that age had to stand strong to protect Fanette, build strong and high walls so that people wouldn't know how fragile Fanette was.
And they succeeded. Everyone including her father thinks Fanette is a very perfect woman. Leading the business of two families at once, beautiful, elegant, established, happy, absolutely perfect. The Fanette outside had no gaps. Her attitude also reflects the figure of a respected family woman.
"Thank you, Adrian," Fanette whispered.
"What for, Faye?" whispered Adrian in his low voice.
"You've always been by my side, even though I'm too shattered right now to be called a human."
"Don't talk nonsense. We are just as broken. You collected all the remnants of my destruction and made me feel whole again, and so did I. You and the Galaxy are the most precious treasures I have, Faye," said Adrian landing a kiss on Fanette's forehead.
Their husband and wife relationship does not mean they do a lot of physical contacts. Adrian only made a few small touches on Fanette because she was building a boundary that Adrian couldn't cross. There is no intimate relationship, no excessive touch, only physical contact when necessary, such as attending events or in front of family.
"Don't call me Faye too often, I hate to hear it. There used to be only two people who called me Faye, that's Mom and Dad. One is the person I hate and the other is the person who haunts me for the rest of my life," snickered Fanette laughing to herself.
"Three people, Faye. It's been me, long ago," Adrian muttered.
"Hmm."
"You should take a rest today. I will inform the company that you need a break, let me take care of your work," said Adrian while stroking the woman's long jet-black hair in his arms.
"Oh, no need. I didn't come to work today. I will fly to Italy at eleven this morning, there is a secret auction in Italy at midnight, and some of the best fighting men in the Colosseum will be auctioned," said Fanette as she released her arms from Adrian.
"And you're planning on winning the man's auction?" asked Adrian with a frown.
"Sure, if anything suits my taste," Fanette smirked.
"You are not tired, Faye?"
"Why are you tired? My father even spends a year sleeping and playing with more than three hundred women, every day the women change, Adrian. And Father said he would be very happy if I followed in his footsteps. So, that's the right choice too for toying with men to my liking, like what did my father do, isn't it?" snickered Fanette with a mocking expression.
One of Fanette's plans to give Charles a heart attack is to tarnish her reputation by playing with a lot of men, such as Playgirl. With the position she is married. Like what Charles did before.
