Prologue

The morning of the first falling leaves of autumn. The smell of the burned acorns from last nights ritual burned my eyes. I looked around my surroundings. The den that I lingered in was rather cool and moist. The rain from the night before left it rather uncomfortable. Looking down at my now visible paws, made me believe that the ritual was a success. I was now a wolf. My fur was dark in color and carried streaks of dark amber strands. I haven't taken this form for some time, I thought. I wasn't a god nor a human. although my parents were both. I was something entirely extraordinary. I was what the shamans refer to as a, "Meng Po." I never understood the name. My existence only called from when my mother decided to sacrifice me on the podium for my father. I wasn't supposed to live, and yet, here I am. I lifted myself up from the enclosed space I called my temporary refuge and began my travels once again. My destination was never truly clear. I go where I am needed. Mystical beings that have lost their way and began to run rampant, became my most popular investigations. They have never harmed anyone outside of their realms before. The most they were able to conjure up had usually been the weather or the direction of the winds. However, they started to run rampant. Unable to contain their power. They started causing humans harm. The laws of the gods in the immortal realm have no tolerance for such deeds and have requested that I see fit to eliminate them on site if I came across any of them that were no longer sane. What they don't know though; is that I have been able to free them of this pain. And returned them to their right state of mind; letting them pass into the next world where they could find peace. It was also a good thing that whatever power I've been using has been making them forget their wrongdoings and why they began to run rampant in the first place.

I pass by a spirit whose wails are driving him to pull his face apart. His fingers, like daggers dug into his flesh and pierced into his face, leaving ribbons of whatever is still intact. "無論我給別人造成了什麼傷害,願他們原諒我!"{For whatever harm I have caused others, may they forgive me!}. His eyes were like black holes. he didn't carry eyeballs at all. He may as well be a walking zombie. 'He must have committed a sin," I thought as I hear him utter in what seemed like a begging prayer in a foreign language. Spirits in this realms are rather strange compared to the spirits that lied within the others. yet they are like humans for the most part. it is best to let villainous entities marinate in their sorrow, this is the law of limbo.
