Casey opened is eyes in a daze and blankly looked around. He quickly realized he wasn't in his home and his sleepiness instantly disappeared. He saw a white room and a familiar blue dragon before his eyes and for the first time, in a while, Casey felt totally lost.
Casey stared at the blue dragon for a while and slowly noticed that his state seemed much worse than before. He cautiously walked over and slowly touched the dragon's face. Casey's eyes started to tear up the more he looked; he finally opened his mouth and whispered softly, "are you okay?".
Morrison was delirious from a fever and was in a lot of pain, he could vaguely hear Casey's voice but he didn't have the strength to open his eyes or respond. When Casey didn't receive any sort of reply he started to gently nudge Morrison, and soon discovered he was running a high fever.
Casey panicked and wasn't sure what to do but he closed his eyes and put his head against Morrisons in comfort. In his desperation, some of his spiritual power started leaking out and drifted towards Morrison. Casey gradually felt himself becoming more fatigued, he slowly open his eyes and was stunned.
His spiritual power was shining brightly and surrounding Morrison, it was slowly resting on his festering wounds and healing them until they were completely gone. "I didn't know spiritual power could heal like this". Casey took in and processed what was happening and became ecstatic, as Morrison's wounds gradually disappeared Casey started to butt his head against him.
Morrison had been in a semiconscious state the whole time and as he felt himself recovering he finally had to strength to open his eyes and saw a small silver dragon in front of his face. Morrison opened his eyes wide "it's you again. Why did you come back?".
Hearing Morrison's question Casey tilted his head to the side; thinking about it Ryien should have pulled him back already since he had been drifting for a while now. Casey started to feel a bit worried, he sat down and looked at Morrison; he felt this dragon was very good so he started to explain what he knew to him.
"I'm not you, I'm Casey and well I didn't want to come back here since it's so scary, but it happens subconsciously and I can't control it. I'm dreaming wherever I am right now and my spirit will sometimes float to other places". Morrison's eyes flashed as he listened he glanced at this silly, naive dragon. "What are your abilities? Do you already know?". Casey nodded his head and cooperated with Morrison, "fire, Ice, light, and space. That's what my teacher told me based on the test".
Morrison pondered for a moment, "would you mind doing the spiritual test and showing me?". Casey glanced at Morrison with a questioning gaze but still did as asked. Soon enough four orb attributes appeared before the two, Morrison froze and slowly turned toward Casey.
"That's not a light ability, but rather an advanced healing one. The space ability is rather unique as well, and that should be the reason you're here right now". Casey tilted his head. "What do you mean?".
"You can't control your abilities yet can you?".
"I can control the fire and ice but not the other two, my teacher doesn't know how to train my space ability either".
"Well it seems your triggering your space ability in your sleep which will transport you to other places in spirit, you need a find a way to control your space power. There is one other dragon I know who possesses such ability but if you're not on the main star it will be hard to contact them".
Unbeknownst to Casey and Morrison; in another room of the same building a man in a lab coat was watching their conversation through a monitor screen; showing a wicked grin.
"For now you should focus on having a desire to leave; this place isn't safe. With the spiritual power, you've been throwing around more than likely that man will come here soon. Listen to my words, close your eyes and think of where your body is and think "I want to go back" that should work for getting you home whenever you jump spaces again little one". Morrison gently touched Casey's head and said "goodbye" and Casey disappeared the next moment.
Right after his disappearance the man in the coat opened the door and leaned against its frame. "You're as rude as ever Morrison, don't you know you're supposed to invite your friends to stay and chat a while? I mean it is your first new friend in over twenty years, how could you send him off so quickly? Especially when that friend was so kind as to remove all those beautiful marks I left on you".
Morrison had no desire to deal with this man and turned his head away ignoring him. The man didn't seem to mind Morrisons' indifference at all, as he continued to babble. "He seems to be the perfect test subject I've been dreaming of, such unique and powerful abilities. I bet I could make a lot of breakthroughs in my research if I had his help". Morrison sharply raised his head and glared at the man.
"Oh? Does that make you mad? It's been such a long time since I've seen such a lively expression on you. Don't worry though, because of his unusual abilities I don't have the means to keep him right now. I'll have to develop a special cage for him, but now I'll, unfortunately, have to look for him; I doubt he'll willingly visit us again. Don't you think? But it seems finding him will be tricky. As far as I can recall the only family that has silver dragons are the descendants of the Amos and Richie families. But neither family has any cubs, so where did this little guest come from?". When Morrison heard the last sentence his whole body turned tense for a moment before relaxing, the man saw this saw action and fell into quiet thought for a moment.
"Ah!" The man snapped his finger as he recalled, "what was it? Nineteen years ago the oracle proclaimed a new king would be born that year. Thus the only two newborn eggs that year were kidnapped from their homes, and the young master of the Curtis family was rescued from the kidnappers. However, the young egg from the Amos family was said to have been destroyed by his takers".
"No way".. "it's impossible right?". The man turned his eyes to Morrison and walked over to him slowly; he patted Morrison's head and met his eyes.
"Hey Morrison, if it was a cub of the Amos family it should have your blood running through it. So tell me could you feel the close relationship between you and our guest?". Morrison kept a stoic face and refused to move or look away for fear of giving the cub away.
The man's eyes slowly curved, "it seems so, I wonder how those hateful old men would feel if they knew that the supposedly dead king was actually alive and already so powerful. I bet they would find him for me and gladly throw him towards my research". Morrison suddenly opened his mouth to bite the man but he nimbly dodged and gently patted Morrison's head.
"Don't worry, once he arrives I'll bring him to keep you company so you won't be lonely anymore". The man grinned and turned away to report the news he discovered.
The man really did as he said and soon enough news was leaked and spread throughout the upper-rank dragon families that the Amos family's child, the future king was found alive! The upper echelon was in chaos at this news and many rushed to the Amos family to inquire. Aki and Sitka had black faces and they heard the news.
"Go find out where this news came from, the only ones who knew he was alive were just us and dad. So maybe Casey started appearing in other places and was discovered. We need to hurry and find him before others". Aki instructed his most trusted aid and tiredly leaned back in his chair. He suddenly heard a commotion outside the door, and the door to his study was thrown open the next moment. In front of him was the young heir of the Curtis family.
"Uncle! Is my wife really still alive?! Everyone is talking about it, where is he? Can I meet him??". Aki felt a headache coming on; over the years he had almost forgotten the two children had a marriage covenant. He heaved a long sigh and waved his hands to call his guards to take the child away. He stood up and said bluntly "I'll contact you soon, just wait for our family to reach out to you".
Not long after Sitka gently walked into the room and sat down on the couch holding his head in his hands, and choked on his words. "Now everyone is going to be looking for Casey.. what if.. the opposing faction finds him before us. Aki. What do we do?".
Sitka had soft tears dripping down his face, Aki walked over and gently held his mate and wiped his tears, "we'll find him first. Don't think so negatively dear. There's something I wanted to discuss with you, the child from the Richie family came asking about Casey and the engagement. Should we break it off now, or trust them and ask them to help us look? They are in our faction and old friends, I don't think it'd be bad to inform and seek their help". After considering Aki's words Sitka told him to reach out to them for help.
While the dragon star was thrown into internal chaos overnight Casey had already been awake for a while. At breakfast, he told Mac and Ryien what happened when he teleported last night. He explained about his powers and the dragon he met, after listening to everything Ryien spoke first. "Actually I noticed last night that your light power was a bit odd, the moment it flashed and disappeared I felt all my fatigue disappear. Also when I took a shower this morning I saw that almost all the scars I had are gone. You're even more amazing than I thought Casey!". Ryien grinned and rubbed Casey's head.
"It's reassuring to know that your space power is the reason your spirit drifts and that you can somewhat stop it. It's like a weight being lifted off our shoulders" Mac spoke gently and picked up Casey and hugged him.
Ryien sneered at Mac watching him not take his previous words seriously at all.
"Tch".
"Casey shouldn't I get a hug too? Why do you only hug Mac? Aren't I family too?". Casey felt embarrassed but he jumped out of Mac's arms and went to hug Rye.
After breakfast, the group separated to focus on their own things to settle down and relax and the day passed quickly like this. As the three were enjoying a rather sumptuous meal that Mac made Ryien slowly spoke up. "I plan to head back to my tribe tomorrow and stay for a few days. I need to let them know how things are progressing here and send my greetings now that you're stable Casey".
Casey turned his eyes toward Ryien and spoke softly, "you're gonna come back right? Although I'm stable I still need more of your guidance, you can't just leave!". Casey had a small outburst at Ryien and both Ryien and Mac looked at Casey with surprise.
"Even, even if I don't need your training anymore aren't the three of us like family? I don't want you to go back home" Casey sniffled.
Both Mac and Ryien were dumbfounded at Casey's emotional outburst, Ryien sighed, showed a small smile, and picked up Casey. "I won't leave, I just need to let them know you're doing well since they're worried. We're a family right? How could I just leave? Hmm?". Casey nodded and curled up on Ryiens lap and fell asleep.
Mac's heart felt cold as he watched all this and for the first time since Ryien arrive he felt his position was threatened. He clenched his hands under the table and gritted his teeth as he told Ryien to go put Casey to bed then he went into his study to think by himself.
Mac thought maybe he had been too laid back and needed to be more proactive to hold Casey's attention. He stared at his study and suddenly had an idea, he walked to a safe in the corner of the room and opened it. He pulled out a beautiful ice blue stone, that night Mac stayed up late to polish, cut, and make a beautiful necklace that matched Casey's horns. It was early morning when Mac finally finished his work. He looked at it in satisfaction and walked to his room, he saw Casey still asleep on the bed. He walked up and put the necklace around his neck and smiled, the next moment he passed out with his hands still on Casey's neck and had a particularly sweet dream.
